People in Bangladesh come from families with many varied backgrounds - Her family is from Chittagong, which was and remains a thriving port city, with traders from across the globe.

She may have Punjabi background - I have not verified.

Generally upper and upper middle class Bangladesh folks have names no different than folks in Pakistan, but spelling may differ a bit.
