Bangladesh worried about security in Pakistan - Naimur Rahman

Bangladesh's players are concerned
about the security situation in Pakistan
ahead of their scheduled tour to the
country in April, the Cricketers'
Welfare Association of Bangladesh
(CWAB) president, Naimur Rahman,
has said.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)
had requested the government to send
a team to Pakistan to evaluate the
security arrangements, but it is believed the players think the board
should talk to them first before making
a decision.
"We [CWAB] don't have a stance as
such, but we know that the players
are worried," Rahman, who was
Bangladesh's first Test captain, said.
"The situation is not normal there and
no other team is going to Pakistan.
They themselves play their home
games in places like Dubai and Abu
Dhabi. The BCB are going to send the
investigation team and we hope to be
a part of it. If not, we will wait for the
report.
"I personally believe it is not safe. The
worried players haven't approached us
formally, but when they do, we will
take the matter to the cricket board."
The PCB chairman, Zaka Ashraf, had
met with Pakistan's interior ministry to
discuss security arrangements for the
Bangladesh team. The Interior
Minister Rehman Malik said that 'box
security', which includes bullet and
bomb proof vehicles, would be
provided for the series.
"Since we have a scheduled tour on
the Future Tours Programme, that's
why we promised to send a security
team before making any decision,"
BCB's media committee chairman Jalal
Yunus told the Daily Star. "We are
more concerned than the players
about their security and safety. I think
it's too early to say anything because
we are yet to decide anything."
Pakistan have not hosted an
international series since the terrorist
attack on the Sri Lankan team in
Lahore in 2009. Since then they have
hosted their home series at offshore
venues like England and the UAE.

What would the enemies of Pakistan gain from targeting Bangladeshi players. Pakistan and Bangladesh don't have such close relations and Bangladesh is of no strategic importance to Pakistan today in 2012.

It makes no difference to Pakistan if Bangladeshi players come to Pakistan or not. Bangladeshis again creating drama like always.

not only tenis team of china but srilankan tenis team recently played in Karachi for UBL cup, Chinease hockey teams played in Pakistan recently so many international boxers played in Pakistan in benazir intl boxing tournament which includes world boxing Champion Amir Khan.....so still woried than god will help you.... stop playing cricket in other nations and try to be Ghar ke Sher like indians...

Sri Lanka and Pakistan have closer strategic relations than Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Pakistan and China were the only two countries who helped Sri Lanka eliminate Tamil terrorists.

The enemies of Pakistan wanted to break this friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka but they failed miserably.

Bangladesh is not important at all to Pakistan.

Is tennis more popular or cricket in Indian subcontinent????????????

No its a sport with only 1-2 foreign players which can be bundled into a car and dropped at a cantonment's tannins court where elite watch it that consists of army personals and their families.

But in cricket the hassles and threat is real as:

- Cricket is more popular then tennis, so its easy to hide tennis schedule as terrorists don't care for it or even don't know wht the heck is tennis.

But they know about cricket and as cricket schedule is discussed in open terrorists can easily plan for it.


- Ten thousands of general public will go to the stadium (security at a big stadium, checking of general public and the traffic jam etc. are the areas where terrorists can sneak in)

- The stadiums are at various locations across different cities

- cricket team can't be bundled in a car as it consists of tens of players+support staff thus requiring a bus to take them.

- And a Bus is many times bigger target then a car, a bus can't be zipped off like a car, a bus is more visible and easily singled out etc. etc.

In the end its different from organizing a small event and a big serious like cricket that are popular in Indian subcontinent.

Bangladesh to send security team to Pak

Karachi: The Bangladesh Cricket Board has requested its government to give approval for a security team to visit Pakistan to assess the arrangements for a proposed tour by the team in April.

A senior Pakistan Cricket Board official said the BCB directors have also given approval for the security team's visit to Pakistan ahead of the proposed series.

The official said the board had to wait for clearance from its government before finalising the schedule for the security team's trip.

The BCB president Mustafa Kamal said they will now wait for advice and directions from the government as it was a matter involving security.

The BCB contacted its government after the PCB officially invited it to send its team for a scheduled Future Tour Program tour in April.

The BCB has made it clear to the PCB that while it is willing to send team to Pakistan, it would depend on clearance from its government and the security team that visits Pakistan for an inspection tour.

The Pakistan government has promised foolproof security measures for the Bangladesh team.

anyway pcb should tell them that there will be no security risks as attacks in pakistan have reduced greatly and on top of it all high level security will be offered to you if they come it will show a good sign that some teams are coming back to pakistan and its safe to play and enjoy the beautiful game once again
