What's new

Bangladesh wants to buy Russia’s Yak-130 & SU-27 !

These Sukui and Mig deal as well as the two frigates which are on their way to BD would permanently shut the burmese up and on its way of achieving the stage where Indians would be shut as well.

Ohh what kind of plane they are planning to make in our new Bangabandhu Aeronotic center. If they pay more attention they could fly few birds before Tejas hit the sky.

Are you out of your mind?

Please understand that we pay their salaries, equipment, facilities, free land, etc. And it is our right to criticize anything that may suffice.

So yes, we are the ultimate boss. Last time I checked, Bangladesh is not a military dictatorship.

You don't like it? Deal with it and suck it up

Maybe SKM(?)

quite possible as SU-27 SK is quite outdated in comparison and i don't think the other variants are available for export

Earlier this year on PDF, bangladeshis used to discuss ...

Bangladesh wants to buy Sukhoi ... F16 ... JF17 ... Mig29 .... J10 ... J20 ... and what not .... and then they finally purchased this piece of $hit

Many of old AC will be soon phased out. BAF will merely try to replace the old AC and make the force capable of defending BD airspace, with a bit of masala (SEAD capable deep fying AC like SU-27/30).
^^^ Su-27 evolve into Su-30

Reading from the specs the difference is mainly in engine a bit and SU 30 is 2 seater like plane. SU-27 is only one. So advantage and disadvantage is in both of them.

I wanted to know from BD members here that whether just 12 su-27 will be sufficient for BD to counter India ? I mean India have got 272 Su 30 MKIS. Higher in number as well quality ?

You sound like some delusional buttshot to me, but lemme be fair.We have more things to worry about than Indians. India is not a threat to us unless you want to start off something like Israel with PA.
Tell me honestly on how many front you think you will deploy these 272 SU 30MKI? Or do you think all of them are operational at the same time? Numbers don't win you war, strategy does. Quantity don't matter, quality does. What ever we have/buy, is quality stuff.

All of which are either on paper or in thin air. I doubt you'll opt for the expensive Sukhois. At any rate, I doubt the generals will allow you to achieve parity with us.

The BD economy is much larger than yours and also growing quicker and over time BD will develop a much more capable military.

The money that was allocated to defence in the past was deliberately kept low to allow poverty to be tackled, and now that BD has better social indicators than both India and Pakistan, expect the proportion of GDP to be spent on the military to steadily rise over time.

There is no way a small country like Myanmar can compete with the much larger BD.

Yeah, but you forget Bangladesh's main weakness: it's full of Bangladeshis. Anyway, Myanmar is booming now so in 10 years time I'm confident we'll be the bigger economy. It's embarassing to even have to compete with your kind.

Careful BAF, Russians want to sell some of their old SU-27 inventory after ordering some new sukhoi 27/30. Despite upgrades the airframe would be 20 Years old. Some of the airframe components can be replaced and extended service life but ask yourselves is it worth buying second hand deplorable condition SU-27s or New SU-30s. There should be no room for second hands, whatever BAF is looking for get brand spanking new.

Read This:
Chinese Su-27s Die Of Old Age
April 7, 2009: The Chinese Air Force is retiring its first Su-27 fighters, or at least the airframes. These were bought in the early 1990s, but 24 of them have reached their service life of 5,000 flight hours. This is a limitation all aircraft have, although it can often be extended. The F-16, for example, had a service life of 4,000 flight hours, but through the replacement of some airframe components, that was extended to 8,000 hours.

indians don't ruin this Thread I will report every indian that trolls.

No less than the IMF predicts that the BD economy will grow quicker than Myanmar over the next 5 years.

BD is also booming and is far ahead and this lead will just get larger.

Enjoy total BD military superiority over your little country.

Except you have no idea what the IMF data is saying as I was the one who linked you to that place in the first place and there is only Burmese superiority in reality and you seem not to be enjoying it too much.

People stick to the Topic, No economy IMF or insulting each other.

Umm, in case you haven't noticed, BAF does not have the budgetary allocation given to IAF, so they're making the best of what they've got in a reasonable time frame, which is more than we can say for IAF's upgradation process (granted it's not easy replacing 150+ planes, but you cant deny the red tape)

I would personally not prefer for BD to be solely reliant on Russian aircraft.

It now looks like BD will have a 4th generation fleet consisting of 16 Mig-29 and 24-36 SU-30 by 2020.

Far better that BD has one type of Russian fighter and another type of Chinese.

The ideal combination would be J-10/SU-30 - J-10 would be solely for air superiority and the SU-30 could be used for deep strike as well as being a formidable interceptor.

The Indians tell us they have a stock of 272 Su-30MKI, while in reality the number is only 157 at present. They want to raise it to 272, but there will be more suicides of poor Indians when this superpoor India goes for a superpower status by purchasing military gadgets from foreign sources and by sending rockets to the Moon. This is why UK has already objected to this kind of extravagancy and will stop its $400 million annual donation to that country.

UkBangali,

But my understanding is J10 is not available for export. Infact some say it's still in the testing phase. Under those circumstances how can you plan and there is inherent danger in relying in a totally new product. BAF is going fully Russian I think. I think post 2020 we will buy Chinese planes in numbers if the economy supports it.

The J-10B is being sold to Pakistan.

While it is not certain whether China will sell to BD, it does not seem like the attempt has been made. Awami league seems to have made the decision that all BD 4th generation jets will come from Russia.

J-10B is a upgrade to the J-10A with the more powerful WS-10A/B engine, AESA radar etc. It is therefore a newer version of the J-10A which has been in service for nearly 10 years now and not a totally new aircraft.

If the Chinese did not think that the J-10 was a good fighter then they would not have already produced around 250 of the J-10A version and now getting ready to produce hundreds of the J-10B version.

I do not think that the Russian fighters are bad, just that the J-10B/SU-30 would make for a far better mix than the Mig-29/Su-30.
