What's new

Bangladesh Vs India World Cup 2019, Birmingham

Actually Pakistan is sitting at NO 6( 96 points) on one day ranking just above Bangldesh, sri Lanka, West Indies. They should have not lost to Windies( 76 points) but they have beaten NO 1 rank team Engalnd( 123 points), No 4 New Zeeland(113 points) and No 5 South Africa( 109 points)

so if they win against Bangldesh then it would not be bad performance overall considering the present form and ranking

It would be naïve to think that No 6 team will beat all top 5 teams

Yes that's true but the team is capable of beating Bangladesh if they can defeat #1 team and undefeated team of tournament.

Yes it was. The game against India was a loss you don't win every game you might as well add Australia to the list. Yes the opening partnership is failure I have mentioned it before whats your point? The opening partnership is a problem I've talked about it before feel free to find those posts on my profile but part of that problem is management openers sitting out of team right now: Ahmed Shehzad, Abid Ali, Sharjeel Khan. None for backup unlike the bowlers which we replaced and are now doing the job. You can't replace them with anyone so you're stuck with what you have.

Lol. Nice deflection.

What do you mean "yes it was"? How so? How did the pitch favour West Indies? I agree with you that not every game can be won. However, how do explain Pakistan's record of 8 consecutive loses against India in the world cups?

lol it seem you wishing them to be at bottom

Wrong perception on your part lol

What deflection? The pitch favors them because they play on bouncier pitches in WI whereas in Pakistan/UAE bounce like that is rare. Even the series in England there was a grand total of 0 pitches with that kind of bounce.

8 loses against India is just their handling of pressure is better its not the team that is worse overall record of Pakistan vs. India is Pakistan wins against them by a huge margin. Last bilateral series against India was 2012/13 which Pakistan won convincingly 2-1 and almost whitewashed them in their home. Another reason for world cup losing streak could be they have chased a target 7 out of the 8 times. Pakistan's record chasing totals is abysmal and add on the pressure of WC and facing India it makes a lot more sense why they shouldn't chase.

ok,let's see how these daft BD batsmen will perform against your team

We blast not cut across the seam. Secondly, so much negative bowling by the Indians as always. Especially Bhuwaneshwar is just a pet who bowls negatively all the time. Otherwise he would get hammered with his pace.

It is far from decent performance, considering the fact the amount of money we spend on cricket as well as the legacy we had.

since you mentioned money, have a look at the following :

"The PCB earns revenue comparable to West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, and so the vast differences in retainer amounts between Pakistani players and those representing those three countries stands out: Kane Williamson, Jason Holder and Angelo Mathews all make double, or nearly double, what Sarfraz does on their retainer. Sarfraz makes up for it with his total earnings, but such a system puts intense pressure on the player; an injury in Sarfraz's case is of far greater harm monetarily than it is for Mathews, Williamson or Holder. Like with India, the case for setting up a Pakistani players' association has never been stronger."

Reminds me of the time Inzamam handled the ball not knowing the rules and was given out, he whined about it as well.
I don't think our bowlers bowl with the mindset of making your batsmen more comfortable when they play against us. If it's legal and makes things difficult for you, any team will use it. Stop whining.

Don't worry Indians will give it to you to keep Pakistan out, just like they helped UK the other day.

Tuesday's match against India is a must-win for Bangladesh as far as progressing to the World Cup semi-finals is concerned but, among its large contingent of fans, the anxiety over what could happen on the field is matched by anxiety over the loss of face should their team lose. Because it will not be just another loss - if it happens - but a loss to the one team they love to hate.

The stakes are high. Ahead of the match, there is talk among Bangladeshi expatriates living in Birmingham of buying tickets at higher prices, and plans to enter the stadium in large groups so that they are not overwhelmed by the Indian support troops, who are likely to be in a majority during the game. One group is also organising a march towards Edgbaston, although they aren't sure how many are joining them.

It's got to the point where captain Mashrafe Mortaza has had had to ask the team's supporters to tone it down.

"There will be excitement but it won't be acceptable if it crosses the limit or someone is targeted personally," Mashrafe told BDnews24.com. "Social media and abuse and trolling is hard to ignore for players, no matter how hard we try to avoid them. Cricketers are also human. It affects relations between two countries and doesn't send a great message about our country either. "Both sides will want to win the game. Our supporters should definitely back us with all their heart but it shouldn't become dirty. We should keep in mind that we don't do anything to belittle our country."

Thankfully, the players appear unaffected by the hype, and from all accounts, there's quite a bit of bonhomie between the two sets of players at the hotel they are sharing in Birmingham. Mashrafe was seen hanging out with MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya while Tamim Iqbal is said to have spent time with KL Rahul. There has never been outward hostility between the players, apart from the odd on-field sledge, and Bangladesh cricketers often talked about India as strong opponents from whom they have learned a lot.

But it's hard to ignore the past, especially in the age of social media. It stems from the persistent and long-held feeling among Bangladesh fans that they were given a raw deal - in cricketing terms - by their neighbours. Ironically, it was Jagmohan Dalmiya, the ICC president at the time, who engineered Bangladesh's elevation to full-member status in 2000. Since then, though, India have hosted Bangladesh for just one Test match, often citing commercial reasons for not hosting them more.

So there's the hurt, as well as a feeling that the hurt is not justified. This has been further complicated by a steady, seemingly endless, stream of abuse - sledges, threats, offensive memes, the works - from both sides, especially on social media. Four years ago, even the mainstream media joined the trolling, when a major Bangladeshi daily mocked Indian cricketers with a graphic of them being shaved by Mustafizur Rahman's cutters. Then, during the 2017 Test in Hyderabad, a local daily alluded to the "big brother v younger brother" relationship in its headline.

On the field, Bangladesh have a 5-29 win-loss record against India in ODIs, though famous victories in 2004, the 2007 World Cup, the 2012 Asia Cup and the 2015 ODI series were posts of progress.

Bangladesh's evolution as a team, particularly in the last four years in which they also beat India twice, has added to the fans' confidence. They have built a parallel universe where it is believed that there is no clear favourite in this contest, and out meme-ing and out-trolling each other is a form of victory. On Tuesday, they have another chance to change the tone and tenor of that communication.

I am not, I only lament the batsman, not necessarily Pakistanis who get out on such lame negative bowling. Yesterday, Bhuvnisher keep bowling slow off and leg cutters way way outside the off stump, some were called wides, and Bangladeshi batsmen keep getting out on those cutters from him and others.

Modern cricket is saturated with strategies that have been seen, tested and defeated now. It's always one long forgotten strategy that suddenly gets exhibited to shock the batsmen that becomes the game changer. I remember how in the Asia cup, Indian bowlers wrecked havoc with Pakistani batsmen by bowling short again and again. In the next match that strategy didn't work as the batsmen had adjusted to that. Right now yorkers in death overs seem to be working very well, pretty soon batsmen will adjust in anticipation. This keeps going in circles, all that matters is to find out that old strategy that the batsmen least expect, to work for a short period of time before it gets called out
