Sad thing is you claim being all big and rock star but look still the big daddy spanks you everyday. what is the use of all that then !!!

1. In 1969-70, the ratio of per capita incomes between West and East Pakistan was 1.6, as detailed by Mr. Khan in Bangladeshi paper The Daily Star. In 2011, however, this ratio has increased to 1.7, according to the IMF data.

2. Bangladesh is still categorized by the World Bank among low income and least developed countries of the world, while Pakistan is a middle income country and classified well above the list of least developed countries of the world.

Bangladesh is ranked as 11th poorest country in the world by the World Bank in terms of the percentage of population living on $1.25 or less a day. Neighboring India is the 14th poorest on this list, while Pakistan does not show up on it. The rest of the nations on this list are all in sub-Saharan Africa.

Haq's Musings: Economic Disparity Between Bangladesh & Pakistan

Let me complete that for you.

3. In 1947, East Pakistan started with a lower economic base than West Pakistan, and the loss of its Hindu Bengali business elite in 1947 left it worse off. It also didn't have the benefit of the large number of Muslim businessmen who migrated to West Pakistan, particularly Karachi, after partition of India in 1947.

4. Pakistani economist Dr. Ishrat Husain explains it well when he says that "although East Pakistan benefited from Ayub’s economic reforms in 1960s, the fact that these benefits were perceived as a dispensation from a quasi-colonial military regime to its colony—East Pakistan—proved to be lethal."

It must, however, be acknowledged that Bangladeshi economy has been outperforming Pakistan's in the last few years, particularly since President Musharraf's departure in 2008. Bangladesh has also made significant strides on various social indicators and it now ranks just one notch below Pakistan on human development index 2011. Bangladesh's family planning efforts have been remarkably successful in lowering the fertility rate of Bangladeshi women, an area where Pakistan significantly lags behind the rest of South Asia.

South Asia Investor Review: Economic Comparison Between Bangladesh & Pakistan

Nonsense!

Until 1947, Kolkata was the center of Bengal's economic and social development for both Hindus and Muslims. All large industries, Military bases, Government offices and most of the institutions of higher education were situated in Kolkata. Without Kolkata Muslim East Bengal was decapitated.

In 1960, East Pakistan had an GDP size of 4.3 Billion and West Pakistan had 3.7 Billion. After that Ayub Khan exploited the East a lot.

Your link confirms that the percent of population of poor in India ( 32.7%) and Bangladesh (43.3%) is still among the largest in the world while Pakistan's 21% poverty rate is much lower.

Recent report show that poverty rose by 16% to 37% in Pakistan.

Poor India!!!!

As I said,Its because of Pakistan's higher rate of Urbanization. They might earn more, but they will also spend more.Their is a clear disparity between income levels in rural areas and urban areas.I hope you are familiar with the concept of Urban poverty. The 1.25$ income line don't accord for urban poverty.Hence they are very unreliable.Multi dimensional poverty indicator is much in indicating real poverty.

What you guys don't understand is these income levels are not good indicator of poverty rate.More Pakistanis live in cities compared to Indians and Bangladeshis.Which means they will earn more money. But cost of living in cities are also higher. These income levels are simply rubbish. They are not counting Pakistan's urban poverty rate.According to some sources Pakistan's real poverty rate could as higher as 45%.

Scraping through: 45% population living below the poverty line, reports BISP – The Express Tribune

Read the report carefully.

According to the results of the basis of PSLM survey which was a committee constituted by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Dr Nadeemul Haque, the incidence of poverty has declined from 17.2% in 2008 to slightly over 12% in 2011. In 2010-11, the estimated population was 175.3 million and around 21.5 million people were living in abject poverty.

So the official economic survey found 12% of the people living below $1.25 per day per person poverty line in Pakistan.

The BISP is using a higher figure of 45% to try and get a bigger budget. It's motivated by politics, not facts. Also note that the ET report says nothing about the definition of poverty level used by BISP.

there is something called common sense atleast am not taking Pakistan's PPP & Bangla Nominal just like indians normally do

there are only few bangladeshis (1 or 2) & mojority of indians who are in delusion other wise most of the Bangladeshis (atleast in PDF) are really sane & mature stuff.....plz dont generalise the whole Bangla nation....

GDP(PPP)

India $4.46 trillion
Pakistan $488 billion
Bangladesh $283billion

GDP (nominal)

India $1.82 trillion
Pakistan $210 billion
Bangladesh $113 billion

All the surveys indicate that the urban poverty level in Pakistan is lower than rural.

There is not much economical prosperity in our part of world to be proud of ...but there are some lessons to be learnt ..so far it is a small path traversed .. But some countries did well and are on their way to success .. We should learn from it ..next two or three decades will show us the real picture ..well done bangladesh

Hello,$1.25 line is too ambiguous and unreliable as a poverty indicator. It does not accord for living standards,Health care or education. It just the amount of money a person earns, having no idea how much he has to spend to make aliving.Stop beating that dead horse.

Alhumdolliah! Our greatest asset is mercy of Allah and hard working people(most) that follows the path of Allah shown by our beloved prophet(s.a.a.w).

congrats to BD. well done, but I don't think so BD can become the 2nd biggest in SA, atleast it would require high growth for a decade and still they would need pakistan to perform really bad.
Pakistan GDP as per IMF in 2011. 210B $
bangladesh GDP as per IMF in 2011. 113B $.

even if Pakistan's growth rate is 3-4% still BD would find it difficult to surpass Pak economy.

Do not forget Pakistan has around 190 million people which is much more then Bangladesh. However Bangladesh is counting GDP based on 1995 year. With the up-gradation of base year to 2005 GDP is expected to see a huge boost and could be around 180 billion. If not in full GDP but in terms of nominal per capita GDP Bangladesh in the next couple of years will cross Pakistan that is for sure.

On top of it our export is on rise but this is not the case with Pakistan. Not only that our human resources is our best asset where Paksitan is lagged behind muchand has a much lower literacy rate then Bangladesh and in higher education only half then student of Bangladesh are enrolled. It's education budget is also a fraction of Bangladesh' one. This is clearly showing where Pakistan is heading to.

But we all want development of Pakistan but it needs to change its way. Needs to give economy and education more priority then war and fundamentalism.
