Bangladesh targets 7.8% economic growth in new fiscal year

When I see Pakistani and Indian folks showing down BDers, I don't know, I feel really weird. When the same thing is done by affluent Europeans or Americans --or these days more likely nuvo-riche Chinese-- it becomes mortal sin. But among ourselves we constantly showing them down, in a very condescending manner.

A much perplexing thing is that these guys have been independent since 71. A year which many people among my siblings can call a near past.

For all of their 'punching above their weight' Jumla, Pakistan forgets that its BD folks who have constantly punched above their weight. Be it freedom struggle or socio-economic parameters. Heck without any CPEC level investment they are out growing your country should make you question your country's direction and potential. Heck I remember reading about few students from BD who have competed in ACM-PC and won laurels. Best you have to show for are some 'script kiddies' whom you call 'cyber army'.

And fellow Indians: If a country which became independent in your known memory and can now dare to challenge India in economy, its worthy of praise. Perhaps our astute policy makers can learn some lessons from them.

It is always difficult to shed perception if ones worth is measured purely on the basis of being superior to another.

One hopes that in time with greater exposure to other people and education will lead to some of the kids in this forum to gain enough maturity to understand that someone progressing does not mean they are regressing.

Nah Pakistan is doing OK (but of course much to be improved) given they have no easy RMG quota access from LDC classification. Bangladesh is a severely low consumption country that lucked out on LDC help from others for a stationary, sedentary, low IQ activity of stitching clothes. Then they launder their inflation as real growth to look better on paper (when zero of their non-RMG industries are actually growing in any significant rate)...simply so they can borrow more money on GDP denominator and kick the can of inflation etc to the future (when that bursts). There is a reason why Pakistani americans earn significantly more than BD americans (who are near the bottom) AND one can easily find the patent/science output per capita for these two countries.
No one can really predict the future correctly. But, the present trend of GDP growth in BD comparing to the growth of PAK GDP shows that it is possible for the former to surpass the latter, although I am not sure about the living standard will be better or not. By the way, I think, you will have to check the data for BD's service sector to find out any falsification. The rate of inflation is certainly counted. But, the percentage of service sector seems to be too high for an LDC as a percentage of GDP.

About low IQ activity of stitching clothes, it was the USA that used to export raw cotton and clothes to the west European markets during the 19th century. It was Japan that used to sell its raw silk in Europe and it started industrialization by stitching clothes in its sweatshops. China did the same and is still doing. Stitching clothes seems to be a milestone to step forward in other sectors. But, the issue is BD is not taking concrete steps to move to other sectors like metallurgy, steel production, machine production and many such other goods.

Another thing is Pakistan is for rich people. you can live like a king in Pakistan if you are rich. In a huge beautiful house in Islamabad. But in Bangladesh rich or poor we live a humble life. (Apart from Bilal bhai's 300 taka tea of course :P)

C'mon man only once/twice a week. And I treat the guy behind the counter like my bruddah! Word!

Well said brother! Some countries are a bit more feudal with wider chasm between classes, some less so. I remember growing up - even twenty years ago, every driver, gardener and bai we had sported a cellphone. Now all of them have smartphones and conduct business (money transfers etc.) by phone as well as having social media accounts. It means a lot when people at this level become e-commerce capable and social media capable.

By the way - I've posted a few pictures for the trolls to criticize the shittiness of Dhaka. Have at it and go wild! Not a lot of CGI's, sorry to disappoint ...

See the pictures of Manila from air. It is the Pearl of East. But, go out of Manila it is all shits. You are sending tons of pictures taken with filter and many night pictures with the camera aperture open for a few seconds. The pictures do not prove anything real. These only say that some rich guys do not pay taxes and do not pay back the money they borrowed from the Banks.

The main issues are how Dhak functions, how is its transport system. While the roads, drainage system and garbage collection system are almost good even in Manila, it is so bad in Dhaka. Your pictures are, therefore, self-flattering. In BD, while the private individuals and companies are successful, the GoB is not. As a result, the roads will remain shitty for the next century, there will always be water clogging and the municipality will always fail to collect garbage and keep the roads clean.

So, it is useless to paint the face and keep the whole body unclean. Outward face painting will not impress other people. It is only a fantasy you are harboring. If BD wants respect from others, it must do the city cleaning jobs. Simply speaking, the world knows Dhaka is not a livable city. Can a few pictures will change the image?

Now, you will again come up with examining my Bangla ability as usual. Do you have any right to ask such silly things? Do not play group politics against someone who writes truthfully.

Makes me wonder what those millions of people are doing in India for simple health check-ups.
Millions? Can you show me any proof? I can show you, 20 million people are taking medical care in Bangladesh every year and total 165,000 Bangladeshi patient gone to India for treatment in 2016. India even receiving large number of medical tourists from USA,Russia and European countries.Does that mean those countries have no good medical care? India have some very good hospital in Chennai, Bangalore or Delhi which attracting a large number of foreign patients, but overall, Bangladesh is ahead of India and Pakistan when it comes to health care access for population.

Hope you got what I was explaining earlier about what I was saying about eggs to eggs, apples to apples regarding GDP growth needing also to be on same standard of GDP level.

In any case the "surpassing" will not in the time frame the mongolian clown was earlier claiming (this year or next)....for total GDP (constant dollars) given that is what BD growth rate of 7.8% concerns.

As for per capita (a rough living standard one can say), at constant dollar...it will take longer as well and the growth rates also have to continue for both (i.e about 2% differential and 13% difference in level currently per capita means around 5 - 6 years). But in 5 - 6 years a lot can change regarding that for both countries....esp how much of the higher growth rate in BD is due to lower base artefact etc (i.e how much will BD compound versus stay same in aboslute addition per year):

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.KD?locations=PK-BD

In PPP dollars (per capita) which is far more accurate picture of living standard snapshot, BD is growing about 7% per year, Pakistan around 5%....so again similar 2% difference....but in this case the difference in level is around 32%....so at same rates holding it will take around 14 years or so to catch and surpass....so even more fuzzy picture than the above one.

https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.CD?locations=PK-BD

When it comes to total size, Pakistan has larger population so the "surpassing time holding current growth rates fixed" differences are scaled even longer.

This again does not account for how much of actual real GDP is really "real" and how much is fake for BAL propaganda. You are right that the service % of GDP looks suspicious way to inflate the size easily....because the energy use per capita in BD does not suggest any significant agricultural or industrial modernisation w.r.t its GDP per capita today.

and total 165,000 Bangladeshi patient gone to India for treatment in 2016.

You have posted this number time and again, it has been debunked thoroughly. Hospitals rarely check if BD patients (Esp outpatient consultant) have the proper medical visa. The 165,000 concern those that cannot classify/prove in any other way a legit need to visit India.

The real number of medical related visits is closer to 500,000 to a million....out of the 1.2 million total BD tourists yearly.

Bangladesh ahead of India, Pakistan in healthcare access

Again according to bull crap BD numbers. The same country claiming TFR of 2.1 when it has teenage pregnancy rate and childhood marriage rate MANY TIMES that of Pakistan and India.

The same country that claims to have life expectancy of 73 yet sends a million medical refugees to India, SELLING LAND often just to afford it:

http://indianexpress.com/article/in...ess-bangladeshis-stranded-in-kolkata-4370748/

Take Mustafijure Rahman, for instance. A Bangladeshi citizen, he came to Kolkata with high-value denominations. On Wednesday the brother-sister duo queued for four hours before leaving with some money. They’ll need to go back again on Saturday when some tests are scheduled. “We come to India for treatment because we know that here the quality of medication and treatment is far superior to Dhaka. It’s more expensive, but it’s a matter of life and death. We sold land to come here, and now that money has been rendered useless,” he said.

You claim to be a doctor, yet here you are wasting this much time on a forum just to satiate your ego/feelz like a shameless piece of sewer/suwaar trash instead of helping your people with that time...so that even just a handful don't need to otherwise make the arduous, expensive trip to India for matter of LIFE AND DEATH.

With the time you spent in just this thread posting nonsense illiterate crap, you could have helped at least 1 or 2 of your compatriots at home by self-improving your quality and volunteering that time for it right?....to do your bit so they didn't need to go to Dada for basic X-rays. Has this even crossed your low-breed ingrate head for one second? This is why your country will stay dirty poor and hopeless....you only need to look in the mirror each morning for the reason.

Again any member should read this if they havent posted by this guy, so you understand what this loony craphead inherently is (and keeping in mind how you attack in reverse when the feelz call for that, instead of having a constant position like a normal person):

Socalled ''Kashmiri freedom fighters'' are illegal pakistani terrorist infiltrated in Jammu & Kashmir to create mayhem and destruction. I say good job Indian army crushing those vermin. Each and every Kashmiri separatist sympathizer should be kicked out to pakistan where they belongs. We Bangladeshis, both people and govt. firmly support Indian measures to root out the terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.

@H!TchHiker @Desert Fox @DESERT FIGHTER @Areesh @Zibago

My analysis of Bangladeshi's is that it stems from insecurity. I had alot of friends from Bangladesh in Malaysia and they always complained about how nobody ever knew anything about Bangladesh. It's a combination of not being known around the world and the insecurities of India/Pakistan being much more well-known countries. Let's be honest how many famous people can we name from Bangladesh despite living closer to them?. They act out and try really hard to get noticed.

I kid you not there was a party all night long from their side in KL when they won a cricket match from Pakistan after 16 years:lol:. When they get one over us it gives them a sense of importance.

True they probably started this butthurt thread because Afghanistan just beat the crap out of them lol.

Wanna know another thing Afghanistan does better than them in? Child marriage and teenage pregnancy....so "progressive" BD is:

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/tota...n-in-bangladesh-in-2011.561639/#post-10537580

@Ashes @Mage @Michael Corleone @bluesky do you guys see something a bit off with BD having such high rates in these 2 hold-out things but claiming progressivism/progress in the easier-to-manipulate stuff?

It is interesting that I mentioned a basic fact known to people for ages and then these trolls can't deal with it.

Is everyone in Bangladesh poor?

If trolls cannot prove that Bangladeshis are all poor (meaning poorer than Indians) then that is an issue? Modi magic and vedic economic principles are all proven wrong so it can't be right?

এই গিবস ও মনে হয় আরেক তামিল। তামিল ট্রল এ দুনিয়া ভরে গেসে।
Yes surely @Bilal9 bhai, we don't know this great knowledge that everyone in Bangladesh is poor and can't eat. Indian give us alms and we do survive .
On the other hand every Indian own private cars .
In reality India is the richest country in this universe.
However now I am going to tell you a lie that, India has hungry peoples more than Africa !
But it's lie don't believe it.
The truth is India is paradise!

The same bill-tard butthurt desperate cherry-picked pictures of Dhaka right in this thread say something very different. @Michael Corleone and @bluesky agree.

Tell these creatures not to come to India illegally and live and work there illegally, they are not welcome....then we have no issue how rich/poor you claim to be and what you likewise think of us:

Two of her sons work in Chennai/Bangalore at some garmwnt industry. A life story among many others, who remitt their hard-earned Dollar to our state coffer.

But till you continue to be so openly beggars and rejects and shameless ingrates everywhere you go, yet still want anothers respect or recognition of the opposite....you will be shown the mirror

(heres example taking advantage of syria refugee crisis):

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ing-dhaka-dubai-turkey-detained-a7713911.html

70% poverty rate of your useless beggar lot in UK. Earn at the bottom of the pile in US...worse than Afghans and Nepalis.... 1/3rd diabetes prevalence rate in USA because of rice diet and stupidity. The list keeps going on and on and on.

If you want to be treated different, ACT different....and BE different.

More people in Pakistan have cars than BD so yes they will be driving on those expressways.
Tell me how many people in Pakistan own car? Per 1000 inhabitants? I see, Pakistani motorways are almost empty.May be after 2050 they will be sufficiently utilized.Even Lahore-Islamabad motorway are still underutilized after 20 years.

That is the main reason Pakistan sunk in the debt crisis. They are taking more and more loans to sruvive and investing on infrastructure which they cant utilize.

The truth is India is paradise!

You realized it a little late! But late realization is better than none!

Jokes aside - there are mature sane Indians too that are not as nutty as the trolls here. Unfortunately there are more fascist sanghi nuts in the new generation (under 30 population) than in the old. The neo sanghis are all gung ho fascists who never had the humbling experiences of the old generation. And they are completely out of touch with the realities of how unequal development has been in the subcontinent (India included).

They live in the India of the make believe, of newfound superpower prestige in Brahmos rockets, Mars missions, Nuclear tipped missiles, aircraft carriers, boomer subs and missile carrying drones, being perfect gullible propagandists for the corrupt Modi warmachine. It is amazing that they do the bidding of these fascists without any money or even payback, words they want to hear are their motivation alone, like perfect little zombies.

All this while slum-dwellers go without proper jobs and their kids go without basic sanitation, healthcare and food.

These youngsters don't really care about providing good jobs to the aam admi. They grew up working back office jobs in nice modern buildings so they think everyone in India has the same breaks. They don't.

It is laughable how small the qualitative differences between our three economies are, but we argue and bicker about how we are marginally better than each other. While Germans, Yanks and Scandinavians snicker about our stupidity.

:sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic::sarcastic:

Looking at the butt hurt and burn of this moron, I can do nothing but laugh.

1. We are talking here nominal GDP not real GDP or PPP GDP. It is the measure I have seen most of the Pakistanis and Indian always did when I joined here 2010/2011. They were too fond of showing Pakistan's per capita GDP is 2 times or Indian's per capita GDP is 2.5 times that of Bangladesh obviously with nominal count. However that time Bangladesh's GDP base year was 1995 so GDP used to look smaller.

2. In these years Bangladesh has overtaken Pakistan in terms of Per Capita GDP (nominal) and now almost about to overtake Pakistan in terms of total GDP (nominal), almost caught up India in per capita GDP (nominal) term (provided India measure GDP based on 2011/12 base year but Bangladesh does it based on 2005 base year) and will overtake India in terms of GNI within 2 years.

Any argument about any other thing can only progress further when someone acknowledge these facts!!!

This is not only the stat Bangladesh has overtaken Pakistan in many other indicator including almost twice export earning and reserve.

So a natural question comes is it Bangladesh that progressed a lot to overtake Pakistan in nominal per capita GDP term and almost catching up India as well specially when base year upgrade will be done or it is Pakistan or India performed badly for this to happen? One needs to accept either of the two?

The way this slum dog dalit started writing essays it is appearing there are no argument here that Bangladesh has overtaken Pakistan in nominal term but now they brought the counter argument no!! no!! no!! Pakistan is still ahead based on constant per capita GDP count. Fair enough!!! By which margin???

Based on 2016 figure Bangladesh and Pakistan's GDP per capita 2010 contant US$ is $1029 and $1178. Not a big difference. On top of it Pakistan corrected population in 2017 so it brought down the figure more and Bangladesh progressed at much faster rate so based on 2018 figure I am quite sure Bangladesh has either overtaken or about to overtake Pakistan in terms of GDP per capita 2010 contant US$.

I guess this troll knows it very well so he has brought up the PPP comparison. Pakistan is ahead little bit but no doubt Bangladesh will overtake it as well in next couple of years. I would like to see what argument this Bihari slum dog like to bring after that :p::p::p::p::p::p::p::p::p:

Comparison against India can only be done when both country is compared with same GDP base year.

That is the main reason Pakistan sunk in the debt crisis. They are taking more and more loans to sruvive and investing on infrastructure which they cant utilize.

Next year Pakistan's GDP growth will drop to 5%.

https://www.thenews.com.pk/print/326559-wb-lowers-pak-gdp-growth-projection-to-5-percent

Its little use. These people are still consuming energy per capita that India and Pakistan did in the 50s and 60s (I kid you not, look at my earlier post above)....I think it has affected their logic circuits quite badly (from even forming). This has led to propaganda and feelz filling the void of the ego (like say super duper life expectancy on BBS-stronk paper but with 1 million medical refugees yearly to India for basic 50s/60s tech things).

Why do you think they based their very existence as a country on 3 million-blah blah?

@django @Desert Fox @Valar. @Major Sam @Pluralist

Butt-hurt scores superb own goal yet again!

If we look at energy consumption in 1971, we can see that Pakistan is at over 3x that of BD in 1971, but in 2014 at just over 2x. So proof that Pakistan was milking BD for It's own benefit during 1947-1971 courtesy of your post.

Now BD is building power stations at simply crazy rates and it is catching up rapidly now. By 2025 when the bulk of the massive nuclear, gas and coal power plants are online, expect BD electricity consumption per capita to nearly match Pakistan. Pakistan will still be a bit ahead in overall energy consumption as it requires a lot more power for the military and has a lot more private cares. You know that cars, tanks and fighter planes require a lot of oil to run?

You are one dumb dude.:D

What is the point of "mak(ing) a city like Islamabad" and what would be the gain for Bangladesh? What would we achieve, jobs, better pay, more export orders? Other than bragging rights?

There are some nice neighborhoods in Dhaka too as I have posted in other threads. The claim that we cannot make a city look like Islamabad is rather immature. Maybe we can but what would it gain anyone? Have you looked at my Midrise architecture and urban development threads?

As I have said, their and our priorities are different. Bangladeshi elite should share the misfortune of living in a chaotic city with common people. That's why we have no Islamabad or Bahria town.
