Its not junk its actually quite good, but since its not a proven platform yet. we dont wanna take chances

Cheap or expensive, as long as a jet can properly defend the nation, with less maintenence, we should get it.

BAF has been operating twin-engined fighters for a decade now. So, what is it exactly that you want to know?

If you want to know where our threat lies, the answer is both India and Myanmar; since we are not allied to any of these nations. In case of any war, it is better to be prepared than be sorry later; Afterall, we don't have any Guardian Angel.

In addition; my personal vote is for single engined fighters; but the military top-brass probably wants to counter the Burmese procurement of 20 new Mig-29s. That probably works on their mind.

If your military topbrass thinks that 2 engined fighters can give BAF parity with India or Myanmar..good luck with that. I wonder why didn't this thought occurred to PAF?

By that account JF 17 is powered by RD 93 a variant of RD 33 used to power Mig 29..an aircraft combat proven and already in possession of BD.

Anyways lets not beat around the bush. You have a hardtime accepting the Chinese/Pakistani tag of JF 17..isn't it? Also according to me JF 17 will be haunted by the fact that other than Pakistan it has no takers and even PLAF is not acquiring any.How can one buy an aircraft which the makers themselves are not using?
