Please note that Bangladesh Navy is determined to procure at least one Submarine in the very near future. The paragraph contains the list of major procurements by our Navy. It is said that the BoB contains at least 100 trillion cft of natural gas. In comparison the mainland BD contains about 34 trillion cft of gas.

It is nothing even if BN spends $10 billion to purchase all the items listed above and many others, because the value of 100 trillion of gas is worth $500 billion. We must not allow our two poor greedy neighbopurs to steal our wealth by saving only $10 billion. It is only a pittance comparing to the gas wealth.

nope. it is one! Bangladesh is bit slow and cautious because it has never operated submarine before.... you don't want to buy 4 submarines and send 2 of them to museum due to lack of maintenance. do you?? infrastructures are being built... Bangladesh will get 1 submarine by 2019. after getting experience they will order more.... sounds sensible to me......

i want more frigates and if possible a destroyer ................

Its sad and bad news for India. Its total loss for India. Indian govt should have won this contract. Instead of china making ship for BD it would be better for us, if India would have assisting BD in making ship for them..

On topic: these are 6th 7th generation craft and out of Indian league. You can take our Royal Navy Frigates that we are decomissioing soon. That will give you some idea of how technologically advanced ship operates.

Woah 7 guided missile corvettes !!! But by when are we completing these ships? Does khulna shipyard has that much capabilty??

Khulna Shipyard is already building five units of missile patrol crafts with technical collaboration from China. This is the first time that KSY will be building (guided missile) corvettes. As it is for patrol crafts, KSY will certainly seek technical help from the Chinese this time, too. But, KSY will be making a long leap forward with the building of these missile corvettes. It is five units, not a small venture. Certainly, KSY will undertake the building of frigates in the near future.

BN will be procuring only one unit of Submarine shortly. Before making this purchase BN will have to make a base for this underwater machine. Once BN has the knowledge, technical knowhow and capacity to build such a base, it will be easier for it to procure more units of submarines.

It seems BN has decided to build a naval base in Mognama in Chokoria sea beach which is very near to the site of proposed deep seaport. I suspect this new BN base will be the Home Base for the new submarine. The place is surrounded by forests and hills and the depth of the nearby sea is about 15 meter.

This naval base cannot be directly approached from sea and therefore, cannot be bombarded from the sea, because it will be located behind the deep sea port. A detour will be needed to get near the base. However, missiles can certainly be fired from afar from the sea.

Well, Singapore has a pretty tough military

Anyways, Singapore is not sandwiched between two powerful nations and not where trouble can hit anytime. Also, there is Myanmar.

We needed to replace the 50 year old ex-Royal Navy frigates. Any military would. And we do have interests in the Bay of Bengal which we need to secure. Securing those resources should be a priority.

That's partly why the navy is an important component for a country like Bangladesh. So, it needs to build its navy such that the country's interests are sufficiently secured.

I agree that there are many poor people in Bangladesh (I can see it myself), but that is a different matter. And much of it related to the political leadership of Bangladesh. The military of Bangladesh is a separate organization, a state within a state. Now, I know it doesn't sound good, but there are reasons for it to be so that way. So, even if Bangladesh stops spending on military, it doesn't mean poverty will disappear and become like Singapore overnight. Again, it's all about the political leadership of Bangladesh, and not the military as far as poverty goes.

FYI any one indian warship (frigate/destroyer) that is made in india can obliterate your entire navy, even if those ships are bought from china.
