As far as I remember, Bangladesh air force bought 40 old F-6s from Pakistan air force in 1990. But all of them were destroyed by a big cyclone. It was a big loss for BAF.

We need good aircraft to face the challenges from IAF and MAF. The govt. is not keen on procuring aircraft for BAF for the reason best known to them. I heard from somewhere that BAF is not interested in buying Chinese J-10 because of engine issues and problems in ejection mechanism.

Is there any challenge from IAF ?

Ejection seats can be changed to Martin Baker and we are already proficient in maintaining Chinese engines. None of these are intractable issues.

The maintenance of a defence capability does not mean there are challenges from any adversary or even friendly forces.

It is there just in case...

Friend to adversary can change in a very short time.

Are Indian Air Force assets in Tezpur and other IAF bases surrounding Bangladesh being stood down because Bangladesh is friendly territory?

No, and that is not expected either.

Of course. BAF faces challenges from Indian aircraft based in Tezpur, Hasimara, and Chabua.
Bangladesh is located close to the Indo-China border and shares a border with the narrow Siliguri corridor, also known as the "chicken's neck." the positions of Indian forces near the Bangladesh border are primarily focused on strategic considerations related to China, rather than being directed against Bangladesh itself.

Resources aimed at Chinese air force can also be used against Bangladesh air force. No?
