Balance Of Air Power In South Asia

Lets be honest to ourselves...IAF has both numerical and technological superiority over PAF, the only way forward is induction of 4 squadrons of high tech fighter jets, preferably Typhoons or SU 35 without delay, i won't even suggest to wait for 3,4 years as a lag time for delivery, the deal must be struck on the condition of immediate delivery out of latest induction in the existing inventory of the seller, there is no harm if 2 squadrons each of Typhoons (KSA stock - latest Trenche 3) and SU35s (Chinese or Russian Inventory) are procured, these may serve as good platforms to train our elite pilots on best of both eastern and western systems.

At the same time Pakistan must start 2 JVs for 5 Gen Fighters, one each with a western and eastern partner. Now don't ask me where the money will come from, we can manage, its not a big issue, the issue is to make a decision.

money is not a trivial issue

F-22 will give the PAF a much better edge - but is it possible to procure ?
With current restricted budget I don't think so PAF will opt for F-22 & recently US refused to subsidize Pakistan's purchase of F-16s. With ongoing complexities of US-PAK relations J-20 will be an ideal choice.

Dude Japan has no desire for war, or even to aggressively pursue its interests. Burden that with an ageing population, poor growth and the fact the Japanese need to modernise and build their land and air arms, the last thing they will do is join a war. They already went down that route and it didn't end well. I was shocked to see they have lowest percentage of young folk who are willing to fight for their country.
The Philippines? Duterte has just finished his "turning point" visit to China, that's the end of that.
Vietnam will fight to protect territorial sovereignty, not join a collation of countries against the Chinese. Do remember they share a large land border and will have to forever worry about when everyone else either tires out or walks away from the war.
The US, yes you have a point but public opinion now wants disengagement with the whole world police thing. Why do you think Trump has had such a good run? Hilary will probably be the last of the hawks who wants to take it to various countries, the US public simply does not want the commitment of its sons and resources to parts of the world which do not effect the US directly.
Duarte != Philippines

Philippines is about as pro-American a country in Asia if there ever will be one

. . .
it will take a long time to reverse the cultural advantages USA has in Philippines

The US was asking their president for clarification the other day. I don't believe either they will drop the US as an ally, but they are not making enemies of China, far from it actually.

There is no balance of power in South ASIA

JUST IMBALANCE

Cost of modern western fighters have become OUT OF REACH so much so earlier this year Pakistran could not find $700 million to buy 8 F16/52 which the GOP wanted to use to bomb insurgents in wazristan.

The deal died after USA pulled the plug on grant aid of $500 MILLION

Any notion that PAF can buy even 30-40 modern fighters be it J10 or Typhoon or SU35B looks financially impossible after this F16 debacle

AS FOR BUYING J20 it is not avialble for export much like the F22 raptor

THE J31 is ten years away from hitting FOC if at all it goes beyond the current technology demonstrator stage

PAF has 2 options continue with Thunder and look for help for improvements to future block

OR

Buy second used FALCONS

This the reality of the situation and far more sobering than talk of J31 license production or Saudi financed typhoons OR Russia selling Flankers,

Most of you guys will deny this as reality BUT the good honest posters know whatb I suggest is true

I think India has the advantage in both quality and quantity. India also has better SAMs which can give PAF a tough time in case of a war. But incase of a war the economical growth which India has built for the last 20 odd years will be back to zero. We always think of US and RUSSIA when it comes to war, but both of them never fight a war in their own soil.

.
Well our pilots are way better than PAF pilots. Infact 1 IAF pilot is equal to 5 PAF pilots.

are you high on Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Chyawanprash ??
your claim of IAF pilot superiority is actually the World Record of MM ALAM PAF pilot !!
did you forgot how your 5 planes were shot down in 30 sec by one MM ALAM

You false flag Indians do like to express your self but make little impact, you never stop blabbering about your coffers being full yet how long has your MMRCA deal been on a roller coaster, even then the overall number has been reduced to one third of the original requirement. By the time the Rafales are in strength in five years time, PAF would have a counter in place.
You should be more concerned about the present situation where even our JF-17 is picking off your top of the line fighters before they detect the smaller jet. Just ask IAF in recent weeks how many times they had to leave the are for getting locked by the JF-17....much to the frustration of PAF pilots since they are not cleared to shoot.

Windjammer

Three weeks ago In another thread you where advocating buying Russian flankers as you Felt the current single engined paf fleet lacked range and payload.

Make your mind up bro

I can tell you now Pakistan will never be I. S position to buy a rafale or typhoon type of costly fighter in the next ten years. That also includes flankers.

A token number of new falcons could happen if you can persuade uncle Sam to give resume grant aid.

Otherwise it's used falcons and thunders

No... We didn't attack you in 2008 because we're a responsible state.. our priority was economy not war... even after the terror attack it was pakistan who moved the forces first not india... india was putting political pressure not military one.

Now leaving that aside...'' comprehensive missile'' r u talking about bvr or sams.... because in both catagory india will lead..

Why... because they're invisible! !!!!? What makes you think Chinese will fight India because of Pakistan??? Like i said.. india facing 2 frontal war will be a ww3 that's when china will face 4 front...

BS. The attack in 2008 was not done because the probability of success versus the losses incurred was taken as too high, in addition; the idea that the attack would not lead to an all out conflict was also clearly broadcasted to the Indian government. Finally, the United States stepped in to signal the need for Pakistan's security during the WoT and Afghan ops reaching a critical phase.

The rest is also self fellatio; there are categories in weapons systems that you lead and certain categories that Pakistan leads in; it is tiling in favour of the IAF especially in BVR and now more so in the stand off weapons arena where Pakistan held a clear edge since 1999.
