Balance Of Air Power In South Asia

So a second line is necessary.(plus it can get high tech manufacturing ecosystem set up here and more jobs etc)
Second LINE for TEJAS or second line for an entire new jet ?
Tell me which one will make more sense ?

You can google for the orders of the Dhruv.
As I said before I have yet to see the fresh order for them

New jet, obviously.
The major issue here is ecosystem for such high end systems(Tier 1,2 & 3 supplier base). A company like LM can help kickstart the industrial ecosystem much quicker than say, HAL.
Add to that, the political clout it will get with the country of the jet maker(USA).
HAL already has its hands full with all sortsa Fixed and Rotary wing a/c production.

So effectively killing the national program with no regrets. luv the attitude.

Nothing is stopping HAL from setting up additional facilities partnering with local firms. But then again IAF, as some Indian member pointed is imported air force.

:D
You have made up your mind.
The Tejas order is at 120(low for trucks, very high for Fighter aircraft).
Remember, the PAF order for Block52 F16 is 18.

Your argument is not supported by what is open source knowledge
Hi @araz
"Open source" knowledge such as Wikipedia? I'm afraid my dear that's not correct. No reliable and credible source has indicated that JF17 has superior loitering time than the LCA. As I mentioned before loitering time is a function of both drag and the SFC(specific fuel consumption) of the engine. So,unless JF17 somehow manages to have appreciably lesser drag and higher SFC,i cant understand as to how it will have longer loitering time--especially when LCA has larger internal fuel volume!

As to JFT what the pilots say is that it bleeds less energy when in sustained turn rate as compared to F16s.
My dear, aircraft doesn't bleed any energy in sustained turn.the word "sustained" itself mean that the turning is "sustained". Which implies that the drag encountered during turning is equal to max thrust available to the plane. However any other turn that is not sustained will loose energy and hence height!
I also wanted to point out that if you're below the STR line on an EM graph, you'd actually "gain" altitude! So gaining and losing altitude is relative in the sense where you are relative to STR line.now what I mean by,"where you are" refers to the speed and "g" at which you pull off your turning maneuver.speed is the enemy of pilot in turning whereas "g" is the friend! So for sustained turn, you should have
1)D=T
2)CL should me max
Or in other words you maximize turning rate equation with constraint #1 and #2.as you can see the constraint #1 relates to drag, and to calculate drag we must know something called "drag polar" and that is not reliably known as it is key in identifying a lot of aircraft performance parameters! Countries normally don't reveal this figure.
Kindly refer to my posts on EM diagrams, you'd understand my point.
As for jf17 not bleeding any energy vis a vis f16, it all depends on where we are when we initiate our turning maneuver! So to reliably comment on this aspect we'd need EM graph of both the planes!

FYKI ,76 out of 76 f16 are ready and operational.

not to worry we know how many of there sukhois are actually capable an operable and tejas is not atill ready for combat and FGfa will take five more years to be inducted till then we will have j31

The Turkish folks have taken EW to an art level. I won't be surprised if they share some of their algorithms with the Paks. I hope they'd enjoy it. No wonder Raheel Pasha has stated that Pak is invincible vis-à-vis IA, so Hanumans are the only options left. Mr. Doval must be taking quite a long shot over all those star studded smart and good looking and tall generals and admirals...

I have seen Turkish Targetting pods and T129 industries. They were just like the Americans mean you have state of the art technology and the art of buildind legend the f16.

When people talk about PAF vs IAF all talk is concentrated between Sukhois vs F16s or JF17 vs Tajas, Rafale etc etc. But key point every1 misses is that IAF flies highly upgraded Mirrage 2000-5 & Mig29upg in significant nos ( more than 100 in total ) , any other country will be proud of such an arsenal.

EW is about sophisticated semiconductors as much as algorithms
Turks are zero in semiconductors

And what, their jets will encounter more of M2000/Mig-29 /Mig-21 Bisons than any other type.

After which ? The program will be officially killed?

No, There is definite order for LCA Mk2 from Navy, IN committed to it and the new engines already arrived, minimum 40+.

IAF will oversee the developments and will buy more MK2 if it comes out really well, which is apart from 120 orders.

It would be good, if the members stick to the topic rather personal insults or bringing defecation topics into the every other thread.. am fine to discuss defence related topic.. i been reporting many time.. but that guy got immunity from moderation..
Good!!
report the posts and if you still have any objections then take it up with MODs. This is not the place to discuss this. It wont be GOOD if members stick to topic, it is HOW IT SHOULD BE!! A Rule!! So follow that.

Iaf itself has floated the tender for new jet so....

So far agreed with your point. But take note, I ignore that guy post most of time. But some occasion, even mods do that when they loose patience..

@Arsalan yup reported for abusive language.
