Bangladesh has rejected the US when it went on with the Padma Bridge project with own money..... BD has no intention of becoming a vassal of another country by signing defence deals like LEMOA.... BD has no subservient policy to achieve the geopolitical objectives of another power, especially the a declining power like the US.....

you can talk about technology all day..... plz do so.... but plz remember that technology couldn't save the US from black-white communal clash, Democrat-Republican-neocon-AltRight clash, Latin-white clash or "we are 99"-type stuff..... a nation's power never rested on technology.... if it did, then Indian wouldn't have worried about any possible infiltration in its Seven Sisters or other states....

If that's the case, we wouldn't be the second largest defence market for the Chinese. In fact there is a news, Bangladesh and China are jointly going to invest in the new generation frigate program. Our defence cooperation with China is only going to increase.

I am all for advance BD military who is aligened with China.

Because we never asked for such weapons. It's just from the last few years we have been seriously considering the military modernization. Our Forces Goal 2030 was first proposed in 2009 and finalized only in 2012.

Now that we have become more ambitious, you will see more such Chinese weapons in Bangladesh.

Till something official comes out of GOP or GOB, we would continue to speculate. But the recent statements of SHW is significant and almost points to a game changer in Indo-BD relations. Witness SHW under a Gen Bairam Khan syndrome. Remember how Akbar was impatient in getting rid of Bairam Khan, or Fredrick the Great of Bismark, or Ayub Khan of Iskandar Mirza or Nasser of Najib? I'm extremely shocked, Pakistanis instead of commenting just go and take a look in the total inventory Bangladesh Air Force has of the aircrafts. Russian Migs and Chinese J 7s[JF-17 is the successor version of this plane]. No American made aircraft [only Bell chopper rofl] which is shocking given how East PAkistan/Bangladesh pushed Pakistan towards more pro-US policy. Suhrwardy [who hosted Chairman Mao as Prime Minister in 1957], Sheikh Mujib all pushed for less engagement with China to appease US. Bengali lawmakers were'nt happy when PAkistan tried to get close to China in 60s, they protested and sided with US when PAkistan tried to open air link with China making USA angry. US blocked funding of Dacca airport. PIA flights were suppose to fly from Dacca to then-isolated China, cities like Canton[now Guangzhou near Hong Kong] and Beijing.Today China is the only state that gives them majority of their fighter planes lol.

Btw this was the region [East Pakistan]pilots that formed the bulk, best of Pakistan Air Force, screwed Indian Air Force in 1965 war with their US-made F-86 Sabres . Heroes like Sitara Jurat MM Alam [bridges and roads named after him all over Pak], Saiful Azam, MumtazUddin, 65 martyr acrobat pilot Waleed Karim, etc...

Looks like Air Force is'nt Bangladesh Govt. priority and these greats are now only museum exhibits. Heard Saiful Azam was made part of Film Studio Corp. lol.
PAkistanis need to understand Bangladesh has surrendered its water supply to India, heavily dependent on 'India' from electricity to trade. Bangladesh is same as Bhutan, Indian dependency. Explains the rising of anti-PAk hatred in their society thru films and textbooks, history amnesia 1947-71. Bangladesh is a mess and not much sovereign. Muktijoddhas have achieved what they set out to do in 60s, surrendered everything for ties with India.

My personal opinion, if BAF goes the way as suggested in this thread; the balance of future advanced warfare would look like this

BD 16 JF17/FC1 = MM 16 JF17
BD 6 Mig29 = MM 6 Mig29
After upgradation of BD Mig29B Radar and Fire control, BAF Migs will be in plus side
Then, BD 6 Mig29= MM 10 Mig29B
BD 8 SU30 = MM 17 Mig29S
Its easy guess 1 SU 30 can hold atleast 2 Mig29s. And possible induction of 4 more SU30 can seal rest imbalance out there.
