What's new

Azerbaijan Defence Programs & Military Development

The wet dream of all Turks, joint development of weapons with Azerbaijan. Never understood why there's such a low level of cooperation right now.

Azerbaijan cannot participate in most of the current projects due to level of Western components, in the future I expect Azerbaijan to be the biggest foreign user of Atak 2, 10 ton utility helicopter, TF-X and other game changing systems coming out of Turkey.

Does Azerbaijan have the capability to take Karabag back??

2016 raids and skirmishes which basically led to Azerbaijan taking some land back not a lot but some which basically changed the lines means it can take back karabag in the future.

basically yes - nowadays Azerbaijan would eat Armenia - other than back in the 90s when Russia pushed the Armenians with almost everything left of the former soviet union in this region... the only problem is -
Russia is still the self-declared protective power of Armenia

The Russians are going to have a hard time projecting power in Armenia. With adequate air defence and long-range cruise missiles, Azerbaijan could deter any Russian involvement.

Important to mention that Georgia to the North is extremely anti-Russia.

Thats good news all the best for Azerbaijan.

May God have mercy on Mubariz Ibrahimovs soul and grant him Heaven. He was a true Kursad.

Didn't you see what Russia did to our Georgian friends back in 2008 - these Russians are soulless Helldogs... the only thing they know is scorched earth... Yes, Azerbaijan needs a proper Air defence against Russian bombers but also against, and that's a really important point, against Russian cruise missiles... back then, the Russians hit ISIS targets from their Caspian fleet - they have some missile destroyer there

I know what they did in Georgia, but they also showcased their extreme incompetence there. They cannot deploy their army so they will have to resort to the air force and navy. If you have some long-range strike capabilities, you could deter their navy from entering the fight.

That's why I dislike the Russians - they intervene or prevent every attempt of TR or AZ to form a closer ally with other Turkic states by pressurizing the ex-Soviet countries... Turkey should work closer together with AZ to develop something like the Bastion to protect their costs - especially turkey regarding the Bosporus and possible closure to Russian black sea navy

Turkey is importing more Azerbaijani gas than russian gas.

Thats good news.

Has Azerbaijan the potential to exploit that amount of gas TR needs?

Why giving billions to RU when AZ can get it? Also a opportunity to lower the trade deficite between TR and RU.

"On November 1, 2017, a SOCAR spokesman announced that Azerbaijan will produce the second billion tons of oil in the coming days. In the meantime, the quantity has increased to 700 million tons since independence. This was made possible through contracts with numerous of the world's largest oil companies from 8 countries [BP for example]"

in terms of Gas :
"Azerbaijan has awarded Gazprom the contract for 1.2 trillion cubic meters of its gas reserves"

further:
"According to BP, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan have 2.2 percent of the world's oil reserves and 14 percent of the world's gas reserves."

Now think about a Turkic Union modeled on the EU, why e.g. fckn Russia is against it - and why Western Hyenas are at it again...
and to finally answer your question - yes, AZ could give TR all the resources she needs...

AZ in 2011:
Oil reserves [in Mio t.]: 952 = 7 Billion Barrel ;
Overall potential [in Mio t.]: 3916

Gas reserves [in trillion m³]: 1317
Overall potential [in trillion m³]: 3628

Lmaoooo, more of your fake fantasies. Azerbaijan cant do crap because Russia has nukes, end of discussion.

Important to mention that Georgia to the North is extremely anti-Russia.
and what does that matter? Rusia smashed their NATO plans and took 2 territories to prevent them from ever joining. whats the issue again?

Azerbaijan has had the capability to take Karabakh back for some time now, and that capability keeps growing.

However, one must understand human, economic and political cost of such war, human cost will be tens of thousands of dead from both sides, political and economic cost is sanctioned Azerbaijan and potential heavy involvement of Russia.

Wars nowadays are not simply about having capability.
