Azerbaijan receives upgraded Buk systems equipped with Russian interceptors

Azerbaijan continues to receive Russian-made surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) for its upgraded Buk-MB SAM systems, according to a representative of Belarussia's OKB TSP company, which is upgrading the 9K37 Buk (US Department of Defense designation/ NATO reporting name: SA-11'Gadfly') to Buk-MB standard for the Azerbaijani Armed Services.

"The modernisation of the Buk SAM system to Buk-MB is under way," the source toldJane's. "However, Belarus is upgrading only the systems with the use of Russian-made components. The missiles are supplied to Azerbaijan by the Rosoboronexport company."

The source noted that Azerbaijan-operated upgraded Buk-MBs use the Russian-made 9M38M1 and 9M317 missiles, which both use a single-stage solid-propellant motor.

yep, STANAG 4569 level,pretty much standard level for wheeled APCs, Azerbaijan should of went for local production of Mbombe 6x6 and 8x8, better protection, and 8x8 also has more firepower with the certain turret. There are hundreds of BTRs that need replacement, Border Patrol alone has 200 to 300 BTR-70s.

BTR-82A - latest production version with improved armour, spall liners, more modern night vision device TKN-4GA-02, 30 mm (1 in) gun 2A72 (a lighter, less complex cousin of the 2A42), GLONASS navigation system and a more powerful engine of 300 hp.

Azerbaijan should of went for local production of Mbombe 6x6 and 8x8, better protection, and 8x8 also has more firepower with the certain turret.

Mbombe 6x6 is being tested in Azerbaijan and a co-production agreement can be signed this year. And no, BTR-82A purchase does not hinder this process, see Kazakhstan.

the news about Mbombes being tested go back for so many years now
and sure, but big purchase of new BTRs, removes the big part of local demand for Armored Vehicles.
