"Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's representative in Azerbaijan has backed the country against Armenia, in a move that contradicts with Iran's official stance on the conflict between the two former Soviet nations.
In a video statement published by the Iranian Embassy in Baku, Ojaq Nejad Agha said Iran stands with Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan… occupiers (Armenia) are aggressors," the envoy said in the statement given in Azeri language.

He maintained that Iran "has and will stand by Azerbaijan".

The envoy's statement was in a clear contrast with Iran's official stance on the conflict as the government of Hassan Rouhani has stopped short of backing any side over the region.
Observers believe that the statement by Khamenei's envoy could lead to a shift in Iran's official position regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."

Armenia is running an organized campaign on social media giving the impression that they have got an edge in the conflict. Azerbaijan did the right thing probably realized earlier on that this is psychological warfare and shut down the internet. In reality Armenia is getting hammered hard and is literally begging Russia and Iran for help. Russia doesnt want another front to open up next to its border so that leave Iran helping them covertly. No one in EU and US is giving a fcuk bcz Azerbaijan has a legal claim over the N K region recognized by UN. I see this war ending with Azerbaijan getting some portion of territory and then cease fire. After few month they will replenish and start it all over again and no one will come to help Armenia again.

what is the reason Armenia should not be saved??? its a peaceful country and Azerbaijan has initiated this war. Land grabbers and war mongers have no place in today's civilized world....

U r over simplifying the whole thing. Russia is as much into the game as turkey because of the pipeline. It has already resupplied armenia with iglas manpads through iran. The unrest in iran may force a rethink there.

Drones are the future and no point in large investments in tanks. These things are cheap. Disposable and very very effective.
