At Least 34 Turkish Soldiers Killed in Air Strike in Syria's Idlib, Watchdog Says

It is amazing to see how deluded and misguided people really are. Turkey is illegally annexing Syrian territory, supporting terrorists with known links to Al-Qaeda (but hey, if americans can do it, so can turkey) and is now directly attacking Syrian military, who is fighting terrorists in it's own territory.

If Turkey had even the slightest genuineness in it's concern for Syrians. Then Turkey would've engaged Syria, Russia and Iran in a positive dialogue to resolve and protect the Syrian people. Instead, it made the deal with the devil, and decided to walk back on the Astana Agreement.

Sadly not a single turk or pro-turk Pakistanis understand the fact that the real enemy (israel) is the only one who will benefit from a war between Turkey, Syria , Iran and Russia. This is the pathetic state of Muslim leadership today, where they fight and kill Muslims and Christians alike, and allow the zionist-state to become stronger as a result of divisions and war between Muslim states.

Have you ever talked to an average "Syrian" besides a few Assadists or FSA trolls the few I have talked to here in the states hate all of them and want the conflict to be over not please turn off TRT from your screens
Yes they hate them all because they are the victims and one can empathize with them. However one also has to look at the principle of it. What caused their misery? It was the Arab spring. Do you recall that? What was that all about? Giving people their rights to elect whom them want and not be ruled by despots. Does that ring a bell?

What is TRT?

The same "Syrian citizens" that we all empathize with don't want to live under Assad's yolk. There in is the rub. We have lived through the debacle of hosting Afghan refugees in Pakistan. What if Turkey does not take a position on Syria and millions (already north of 3 million hosted there) more stream into Turkey?
I agree with you in that it is a shitshow and my sympathies do not at all lie with Assad. But anyone can discern that Turkey's motives in Syria are not propelled by any desire to give a better life to the Syrian citizens: it is a projection of power, pure and simple. Even one of their ministers was recently quoted as saying (paraphrasing here) that there is no PKK in Idlib, so why is Erdogan involved there? Turkey's aims are as fickle and geopolitical as any other state's aims in that region, and their claims of wanting to liberate Syrian citizens from violence are as shallow as Russia'c claims or the US's claims. There are no good guys in this war.

They can do that on the internet, however they cannot shut me up speaking in Pakistan to my fellow countrymen and brothers in Islam.

What could be Turkish agenda here? Clearly west has lost Syria. Turkey cannot fight in Syria on its own against Assad Russia and Iran backed groups unless turkey plan an all out war. Turkey only wants to make sure Syrian land cannot be used for terrorism against turkey and Assad don't retaliates against Turkmen in Syria. Turkey its self know it has to pull out of Syria one day. So be a bit realistic and tell me what agenda turkey has over here? Nothing. They just want that Turkmen are not persecuted after Assad takes over. You know what will be a bigger problem for Assad? It is not turkey but it will be YPG and PKK.

At this point, no matter what Turkey does, it doesn't matter. Turkey cant win in Syria. It will eventually have to pull out. And when that time comes. Assad is not going to forget that Turkey destroyed his country by supporting the terrorist jihadist groups, from ISIL to Nusrah to literally anyone fighting in Syria against Assad. We will see Assad take revenge by giving 100% support to Kurdish terrorist groups against Turkey.

I think Pakistanis in real life not the virtual types are much more nuanced well a good chunk of them

Politically they have already tabled reconize the Armenian Killings in 2015, again I am neutral on that if you know what pisses the Turks off its that Syria-Turkey will have rough relations regardless who gets power in Turkey in the future

No, once Syria is united. No more refugee would flown out from Syria as war ended.
If Turkey decide to anger EU more with refugee threat at this moment. It is further digging its own grave.

EU, Russia, Arabs combined will ensure Turkey diminish faster.
My friend, the vast majority of Syrians do not like or support (I am being kind here) Assad.
This is what started this mess. A minority ruler ruling by force over the majority. There is no fairness and there is no choice to make for the masses. Even if he forcefully wins, which is quite possible, this resentment is not going away and will cause ongoing instability.

For those asking Turkey to talk to Syria, Iran, Russia, why don't they ask the Russians/Iranians to stop supporting a minority despot and give the Syrians a chance to elect a representative government? Is that not their right? This is the fundamental issue.

All else that Turkey is doing is just tactical. Bandaid to stop the flow of refugees etc.

My heart bleeds because those who will pay for Erdogans mistakes is not Erdogan himself. It is innocent civilians who will fall victim to Kurdish terrorist attacks supported by Assad as eye for an eye revenge.

You are getting recked by Assad as we speak. Pull Assads dick out of your rectum first, then you can talk about Iran.

Either Assad has a short term memory or you have my friend. Turkey was a late commer to this war.

Who brought isis to Syria? Please go through pdf old threads there is a lot of info here. Turkey was never in bed with ISIS. Turkey killed many isis forces. Today Syria is much more calm than what it was few years ago and turkey has a huge role in making situation liveable again in Syria.

Yara, why would Syrians be Turkey's concern? This is the world of realpolitik but among all the players, I have seen Turkey do the most to help Syrian refugees. Let's recognize that and frankly appreciate that. Turkey had no role to play in the Arab spring yet has had to deal with the fall out. Therein lie my sympathies for them and for the Syrians who are suffering horrendously. No country wants to project power for the show of it. Why would Turkey want to disrupt its economic development by getting into a shooting war? Obviously the refugee problem out of Syria is a significant one. Prior to sending their forces into Idlib, Turkey had brought up this issue with the US/NATO and UN multiple times and no action.
