How did that come to be?

the western parts of the valley are plain region connected to present day BD which they call as sylhet , during british rule huge number of them migrated eastward and settled in the central and eastern barak valley upto the mountains in the north south and east .. even the name Barak is derived from Dimasa-Kachari word, heck even the cacher district is so called because Kachari people lived there . now they claim it is a bengali land..

I don`t mind much about them settling , speaking their language and demanding economic developement ..its anybody's basic right , but just don`t claim the land as your on the basis of false history . Bengolis are majority , but it is just not their land only as some poster are claiming , there are other communities also ,which have been living there long before them..

They are not Bangladeshis, Barak valley has always been a Bengali dominated region and historically part of Sylhet Division of Bangladesh.

Firstly you were part of India then Pakistan and after Indian help new country born as Bangladesh. Even historically Islam was not there.

I thought its about Bengalis not Muslim.

I support Bengalis to break away from Assam with bigger land mass so that in future if they need to merge with BD they will bring bigger resources with them.

With severe poverty and as there is no hope of improvement (read RBI chief) they have no alternate but the survive through Bangladesh.
