What's new

As they say in Kerala, there's more to life than GDP - The Globe and Mail

Communists also are democratically elected .

WTH. Do you mean they have socialist manifest, as in terms of economics? Because Communism and Democratric republics are worlds apart in ideology for local and national governance.

I don't understand one thing, if India is a democracy as whole, then how can they let Communism creep into some states?
Because the Communist Governments work within the democratic framework, not outside it. The differnece in Governance is usually limited to changes in the economic policies in places where they hold power.

Then that's socialism, not Communism.

Then that's socialism, not Communism.

Well, India is a Socialist Country. And that probably diminishes the appeal held by Communists. Beyond that, there isn't mass support for Communism in India, which restricts their reach and ability to influence the National Democratic structure.

The Parties are Communist in their ideologies. But given the track records of a few other such Parties in other Countries, they've been remarkably well-behaved so far. No attempts to subvert the Democratic process in favour of a overtly communist one. The Maoists aren't the same as the Communists in India, though both derive their ideology from similar sources.

Well if you can take nature as an excuse I can do so as well, powercuts mostly happen due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, but in contrast to the past the occasions on which this happens has decreased and the response time for repairs has been cut as well.

..... and you would still loose. Electric power can be supplied underground in densely populated areas. That would isolate it and prevent intreuption. However the reality is that the power cut in kerala is due to Load shedding and not due to rainfall or thunderstorms.
To beat power crisis, Kerala puts curb on use of inverters and induction cookers : South, News - India Today

Failure to act according to promises on policies unfair: Supreme Court - Economic Times

And dont forget that there were not occasions in Kerala were mobs attacked each other and killed thousands of people because of religious tensions

Are you for real ? ~52% of Kerala population (women) live in fear of stepping out of their house  ......that kind of tension and fear is FAR worse than an occasional instigated riot.

However religious and political killings in Kerala is no less than Gujarat, if not more. CPI-RSS killings are in hundreds. CPM is no less and so is congress. Anyone in Kerala knows about the regular political killings. Are you going to claim ignorance ?

There is at least one martyr’s square in every village in Kannur :cheesy: ....... land of peace indeed.

I don't know from what I hear from my friends from Kerala it seems to be costly as hell.

How did this thread turned into Gujarat vs Kerala debate

Fair enough, but installing such lines in a densely populated are like Kerala will also cause trouble..

.

No thats hardly better than thousands of people beaten to death with sticks, children burned alive and homes looted while the police was sitting on their a**** and watching.

As another member pointed out earlier, it is hard to believe.... you could post the link to the study that we can get to know about the exact questions and answers. I mean fear is a very subjective thing, some one in rural Gujarat for example might be happy totally consent if she could not go outside in the late night, because she cannot or does not want to for whatever reason, while a woman in Kerala does want to go outside in the night but cannot because she does not feel safe.

However religious and political killings in Kerala is no less than Gujarat, if not more.

Highly doubtful, prove it if you make such claims

Nonsense, the same is done in more densely populated Mumbai.

..thousands beaten to death with sticks ? ....sound like jihadi propaganda

The next time 'minorities' feel like burning hindu women and children pilgrims returning form the holy city of Ayodhya, they will think twice and maybe thrice.

LOL. Why not also check the resumes of the people who took the survey too ? Maybe they were RSS guys :P

I have already justified ALL my statements unlike others here. Time for you to start proving what you claim.

Good to see the 'secular' christians making such lucid arguments for sikularism

The answer is Thorium and greed.

In 1947?

The HDI initiatives is just the carry forward of the policies of the Verma's. (kings of kerala)

Much of improvements in HDI is due to actions of elected government (healthcare, education) & works of church (education ).

because the people you are referring as "they" are also part of Indian democratic system {and are concentrated in few states Bengal/Kerala}

LOL. One more lucid argument by the Sickular

No Thorium magically appeared in kerala in 2014 :P

You forgot to mention the saving of souls done by the church too

But as far as social indicates and education are concerned, the reforms started way back in 1815 with Maharani Gowri Parvati Bayi. The ONLY role of the church was to play a role in eliminating sanskrit from the education system in kerala and thus destroy the thread that sustained Hinduism and related morality and turned them into beef eaters.

Even by 1920 the education system was FAR SUPERIOR to the rest of India. ONLY because of the efforts of the Varma kings. The first legislative council was set up in kerala in 1888 and it was they who reorganized the entire Medical system.

Spare me your condescending lies.
