What's new

Army was ready to give NRO but PM Imran Khan struck it down: Miftah Ishmael Claims

It Seems to be true since Faisal Vawda who is part of the cabinet was sitting beside him in entire show and didn't deny it

Faisal Vawda is not ISPR or COAS. Stop running your imaginations for more of conspiracies that might hurt you while being in chase to malign Army and peddling PMLN propaganda. All of such blames & claims are part of PMLN's anti Army propaganda and to create divide among Civil Military leadership that works on the same page with all the mutual interest and understanding. Relying on people like Miftah or Nawaz, will bring no good for anyone in these days unless, a person is so inclined to believe in these lies merely in grudge & hate against Army. Concern quarters are fully aware that how such warfare is initiated and what kind of forces are behind the same for their own ulterior motives in such a time to minimize public support against Military by any means.
Who believes these lying corrupt thugs.

Military haters... who else
Miftah is a pathological liar like his boss. I'd be caught dead before believing a word that comes out of his foul mouth.

It was in-fact Army's rejection of any support against PMLN corruption that made Mayram Safdar, Nawaz and many others to go bonkers when Zubair was plainly denied by Army. How could people forget that Miftah is attempting to create a web of lies which is already exposed, done & dusted by ISPR in brief. If it was the case, GHQ wouldn't have denied them in first place causing all the panic whereby PMLN has been explaining their other side for many days. Not just that but people have such a short memory. GHQ thrashing isn't that old I think but months ago but interestingly, most of the geniuses forgot that easily and now started the Miftah's line because there was something imaginary to go after Army without looking at factual details.

Further, rather arrogantly, IK tends to remain oblivion on important political compromises necessary to make a Govt running by all previous PMs

Yeah your Toii is on fire 🔥 because Imran Khan is not compromising on NRO
As a result, our establishment saw the worst open retaliation on the Pakistani streets specially in Punjab against them, Never in Past 75 years they are that much humiliated in open in/by the general public at large.
I don't see any rebellion except in your Patwari circles
All eyes on PDM, how they play their cards well and didn't just becomes pawns once again.
Your PDM is mass resigning from assembly on December 13. Can news get any better. Now we don't need to wait until 2023 to oust this corrupt opposition from parliament

One has to understand PML N is now playing a game of defaming Army. Do you really think that the brass is happy with them after Dawn leak episode. Now bringing Army in everything and at every front is their new plan. Bring army and defame them so they are left alone or create so much pressure so that they are forced to let them go.
These robbers and dicots of PML.N and PPP can go to the lowest point to save their money and insure that their coming generations can rule us. Do you really think that Army is delighted with their stance. and it was courts who let hi go.

Army was seeking Rs. 100 billion tax waiver (read NRO) from Dar, which he refused. Imran Khan pardoned Rs. 300 tax within months after he was in the seat, the tax which was already collected from masses. SC given verdict in the favor of government against main beneficiary FFC and Imran khan is in hot waters.

ISLAMABAD: The government may opt for waiving the outstanding gas infrastructure development cess (GIDC), imposed on gas consumers, as powerful lobbies seem reluctant to deposit the tax in state coffers and have come up with different proposals for an out-of-court settlement.

Compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations, fertiliser manufacturers and textile barons have collected around Rs300 billion from the gas consumers but they have not deposited the amount in government coffers and have obtained stay orders from courts.

According to officials, in a series of meetings held at the Ministry of Finance, these powerful lobbies asked the government to waive 50% of the collection, amounting to Rs150 billion. The previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had exempted CNG station owners from depositing 50% of the collection and now other sectors are also demanding the same concession from the current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Officials revealed that the finance ministry also discussed the proposal of removing the GIDC from major sectors. In another proposal, the fertiliser and CNG sectors have offered to pay all the due cess in installments. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), during its 2008-13 tenure, had imposed the GIDC on consumers such as fertiliser, captive power and CNG units in a bid to raise funds for laying gas pipelines including the Iran-Pakistan, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (Tapi) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipelines.

Later, the PML-N government, during its five-year term, collected over Rs300 billion in GIDC but it was not spent on the pipelines. It consumed the money in projects like Metro bus and Orange Line train.

Sources told The Express Tribune that the CNG and fertiliser sectors had to pay Rs200 billion to the government on account of GIDC. Of that, the fertiliser industry had to pay Rs120 billion whereas the CNG stations owed Rs80 billion.

These two sectors have now offered the government to deposit the amount in 18 to 20 installments. Captive power plants of the textile industry had to pay Rs80 billion.

The largest amount is owed by the fertiliser industry. The PTI government recently increased gas prices for the industry, resulting in an increase in urea prices for the farmers.

The previous PML-N government had allowed the fertiliser industry the export of urea, which earned them billions of rupees. “The current government, after coming to power, started a probe but could not succeed,” an official commented.

The textile industry was another major defaulter, which had got a stay order from court. Apart from this, Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan complained at a press conference recently that the industry was involved in huge gas theft in the country. Despite that, the current government has announced a Rs25-billion subsidy for captive power plants of the textile industry.

Similarly, the CNG sector was receiving billions of rupees from the consumers in GIDC but it was not depositing the collection in the national exchequer as it had obtained a stay order. Officials recalled that the CNG sector and the PML-N government had entered into a deal under which the latter waived 50% of GIDC by 2015. However, the sector has not released the GIDC after that and has to pay Rs80 billion.

The GIDC was meant to build the gas pipelines but the PML-N administration forced public gas utilities to borrow over Rs100 billion from commercial banks in order to build an LNG pipeline from Karachi to Lahore and it did not spend the money from the collection.

You my friend is one of the Most ignorant persons on this planet, You are blaming the PTI government for PML_N deal!!! Post after post after post you continue to blame PTI for PML_N failures and it blows up in your face.

The day military wanted to do anything IK shall not be able to stop it. One call from GHQ and MQM and PML (Q) will change sides and PTI shall become history. There is also dissent within PTI that can change political landscape very quickly.

It is not that difficult to understand.

On One Hand you PML_N supporters claim IK came to power because Army brought him to power, now you are claiming army can remove him anytime they wanted. Which is it?

PM IK came to power because the Majority of Pakistani voted for him any (General) gernails misadventure will have the gernail running to Afghanistan for safety.

The only cartoon gernails can remove are the ones they gave power to AKA NAwazoo.

Yeah their narrative is logically flawed. If people voted for the opposition, who voted for the Government?

How can they even think about giving another NRO? Are these guys serious?
You have to understand context - if the Army leadership says, "you're the elected government and we have no issues with YOU amending the NAB laws and Army will support the decision YOU make", then that does not mean that the Army was 'pushing for an NRO" - it merely means that the Army leadership extended their support to whatever decision the elected government made.
Said it before
Establishment and sharif are hand in hand

People use to say me seeing this is bigotry
Then how do you explain Nawaz and Maryam's direct assault on the Army? Including naming the Army leadership by name?
This is not a denial. Faisal Vawda is member of cabinet. He knows which members wanted to ammed NAB laws but PM Imran Khan refused.
How is saying "this is PMLN's delusion' not a denial?

You are partially correct. This had been the modus operandi in the past, without shadow of a doubt.
But I think the land escape has changed dramatically, Establishment knows it. With Social media popularity, they cannot control things like they used to control. Every one is wiser and the news spread fast.

Take example of Nawaz escape from Pakistan, everyone knows who is responsible, and people points fingers all the time.

Yes MQM and Chaudharies waiting for an opportunity that their services would become in demand. And Yes, Establishment could do it.

But, I will remind you of one sentence Arif Hameed Bhatti said in his program two days ago. He said, Imran Khan would become far bigger headache and dangerous for them compared to Nawaz if they try anything remotely like this. Bhatti is right. IK gots lots of support in and outside Pakistan. Establishment wouldn't survive itself if it does anything stupid, mark my words.
The days of imposing martial law are long gone.
Good Post. Let me add here something from another angle.

Miftah's revelations are indeed look like to sow the discord between One Page Govt but all is not too rosy as well on part of PTI Govt specially PM. We all know this govt is standing on a thin majority and just on a slight indicator from "---", PMLQ, MQM and others part ways in no time and PTI govt collapse in minutes. The argument that there is no other choice better than PTI is loosing steam not bcz of better alternatives but only bcz of worst political, economical and governance examples PTI/IK displays in past two and a half year leaving behinds all previous govts. Further, rather arrogantly, IK tends to remain oblivion on important political compromises necessary to make a Govt running by all previous PMs, instead hiding behinds establishment wall consistently and putting establishment interests on the fire while taking popcorns on the couch. As a result, our establishment saw the worst open retaliation on the Pakistani streets specially in Punjab against them, Never in Past 75 years they are that much humiliated in open in/by the general public at large. Therefore, although PTI/IK is unharmful but becomes a dud completely in a political sense (Nadan Dost say; Dana Dushman Behtar hay). These state of affairs will not go for long, Establishment needs alternatives immediately.

Because, Middle East situation is turning towards worst and establishment have in plan some decision as soon as hostilities starts in ....as usual without taking in civilian govt on board (Neither a dud PM have a capacity or intent to learn anything in this regards). However, The fall out will be plans to put on IK/PTI govt, while they will remains "Dudh kay Dhulay" as always.

All eyes on PDM, how they play their cards well and didn't just becomes pawns once again.

@Irfan Baloch
@Jungibaaz

Well, well, well.

I bet the Establishment to try something funny now against IK.
Wait for the mayhem to descend on Pakistan. Don't under estimate the support for IK, inside and outside of Pakistan.

This approach of King making has no place in Pakistan now.
Let them act and see the results.

Former finance minister Miftah Ismael admit live on TV today that army was ready to give NRO to opposition by amending 34 NAB laws. Even members of cabinet were pressuring PM Imran Khan but he refused to do it.

Once again PM Imran Khan stuck to his words: I will not give NRO!

@koolio @Imran Khan @Zibago @Morpheus @PakSword @Tameem @muhammadhafeezmalik @ejaz007 @Indus Pakistan @Alternatiiv @Mav3rick @Indus Pakistan
Just making shit up
They want to appear stronger than they really are to avoid their party breaking apart as Mariyam is hell bent on mass resignations even when Shehbaz group and Bilawajah is not onboard
The days of imposing martial law are long gone.
Yep and this synthesis model where all institutions work with each other rather than against it is the best one till date
Finally we have civil and army leadership agreeing on Indian policy

This Muftah Islamil is a dog of pmln, so what he has barked is only BS on NRO
