Armoured Defender Jeep By HIT

we go offroading every summer

off the top of my head, in terms of cost-benefit and durability --- the toughest off-roaders you can get your hands on would be the late 1990s Jeep Cherokees (with 4.0L petrol engine) or the older FJ series Land Cruisers with diesel motor. These cars are super cheap to maintain and they can do some serious off-roading

the older (and newer alike) G-class Mercedes jeeps (gelaendewagen) are juggernauts on rugged/muddy/snow terrain. They are capable of ridiculous climb angles.

but they are a ***** to maintain --- very expensive parts

Sir jee... by no means..... the names you mentioned are 'cost-benifit' choices..... neither capital and neither operation... rememebr i'm talking about Pakistan.
Performance of land cruiser, Mercedes is OK but Jeep Charokke is debatable in comparison senario.
In my view climb angle is not main parameter but off raod terrain is real test. i.e. going through forests, muds..... Pakistani pothohar region could be a real test of performance an durability.

Any how please... don't forget to post news about subject jeep... if available than i would love to read the specs..

Where is this thread going ??

was is it a Prank !!!

My kind of guy!! I completely restored a 1988 Jeep Cherokee ( 4.0L in-line 6..not the cheesy 3.7L V6 Daimler dumps in them nowadays). It is my daily driver, my hunting and camping Jeep, and made it up to the top of the continental divide (8,000ft) with zero mods. Beautiful machines. I guess it's a "Jeep thing" - the others may not understand. You ride a Jeep and drive everything else!!:D

Right on about G-Class.. $150 oil changes?? come now, what were they thinking?

this is the Land Rover Pakistan army currently uses. what we are talking about is an Armoured defender jeep and that is bound to be better then this one!

omg another masterpiece:rolleyes:

This is Humvee my Friend not the God damn Land Rover !

I think that was a joke by Pakistani nationalist:lol:

well yes climb angle isnt the only parameter......it's just one of them. But climb angle goes to show how much clearance the vehicle has relative to the ground

i mentioned the Cherokee because the 4L engines have unbelievable amounts of torque......but to be honest, they arent easy to find in Pakistan. Most Cherokees here are having diesel motor

anyways....

A diesel Motor? wow! who makes the engine? I have never seen one here. All 4L here, and 2.4L in the early 80s

quite rare here, but they exist. Right-hand version, with 2.8L diesel motor I believe.

heres an example of one -- at Hingol national park

I know one guy who is planning to do a CRD conversion, not sure if the plan has seen fruition or not. But if it has, then that thing will be a torque monster. No joke.

I hate to have

a.) strayed from topic
b.) used the topic to advertise another blog

but...

I implore all car-nuts to view this amazing story. Some of you may have seen this already. A truly great read, and a FANTASTIC example of fine restoration of a classic work-horse. Most of the work done here in Pakistan.
