RIYADH: Arab countries are in talks with the United States for a new security agreement to protect the Middle East from “external aggression”, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al Jubeir said on Sunday.

“The aim is to achieve security arrangements in the Middle East that can protect the region from external aggression... and strengthen relations between the United States and the countries of the region,” Jubeir said.

Indeed which is why we should not join. A Muslim NATO has to be inclusive of all and not a mere cover used by some Gulf states to further their own geo-strategic agendas. For good or bad Iran is Pakistan's neighbor, and peaceful relations with them is therefore a must for us (especially given that we are surrounded by radical Hindu nationalists to our east and lunatics living in the 16th century to the north west.)
