200-300 Talib overwhelmed 15-20 commandos. It was a night stealth mission to occupy a small village so talib won't ambush a regular infantry platoon which was going to pass through road near the village. Faulty intelligence led to the massacre of both infantry platoon and commando platoon resulting in death of around 40-50 soldiers, Air backup and artillery was not used because of the nature of mission to occupy the area quickly and quietly as faulty intel led soldiers to believe they are at an advantage because of surprise attack they are about to commence, but Talibs give them surprise instead . Details are in Operation Tirah Valley thread
So when more than 100 Talibs are raining down 12.7 MM and RPG from above, you can not survive for too long.
Then TTP and the Good Taliban will join and teach the current Pakistan a lesson but you need not worry as you will be their information Minister by then? Saddam Hussain also had a great Minister like that once upon a time.
Where did you get that?

The ISPR and the mainstream Media have been completely silent on the incident of their SSG Commandos Platoon being missing in Tirah Valley

Unfortunately, that is true AFAIK.
This is the incident that I mentioned above, the platoon running into a Taliban encampment. It wasn't a solely SSG platoon, they had regular soldiers as well along with some SSG soldiers, the combined strength was of a platoon. Some were killed and they embraced martyrdom, while some were presumed missing.
That place is a very thick jungle...
But Sir,isn't Tirah valley in FATA which is mostly an arid area?

I don't know the exact time frame, but yeah a week or 2 back.
Capt Ahmed Raza was one of those who embraced Shahadat in this incident.
