Another Lt.Colonel Martyred in N.Waziristan

I wonder why such incidents are not reported by our 'free' media?

. .
200-300 Talib overwhelmed 15-20 commandos. It was a night stealth mission to occupy a small village so talib won't ambush a regular infantry platoon which was going to pass through road near the village. Faulty intelligence led to the massacre of both infantry platoon and commando platoon resulting in death of around 40-50 soldiers, Air backup and artillery was not used because of the nature of mission to occupy the area quickly and quietly as faulty intel led soldiers to believe they are at an advantage because of surprise attack they are about to commence, but Talibs give them surprise instead . Details are in Operation Tirah Valley thread

So when more than 100 Talibs are raining down 12.7 MM and RPG from above, you can not survive for too long.

That is very very very unfortunate. Do you think something was amiss in planning, execution and intelligence?

.
Then TTP and the Good Taliban will join and teach the current Pakistan a lesson but you need not worry as you will be their information Minister by then? Saddam Hussain also had a great Minister like that once upon a time.

sir keep living in dreams afghan Taliban are already helping Pakistan in bringing peace in Pakistan but you keep living in dream your choice

Unfortunately, that is true AFAIK.

This is the incident that I mentioned above, the platoon running into a Taliban encampment. It wasn't a solely SSG platoon, they had regular soldiers as well along with some SSG soldiers, the combined strength was of a platoon. Some were killed and they embraced martyrdom, while some were presumed missing.

That place is a very thick jungle...

This is an incident of a few weeks back.. right?

I don't know the exact time frame, but yeah a week or 2 back.

Is this the incident you are talking about?

Heard that in a offensive a couple of days back, we lost 5 more men and injuries amounted to around 20...SSG also included in them. Things are getting much tougher than expected.
@Xeric, @Icarus, @Last Hope, @F.O.X, can you folks confirm?

RIP to the brave souls.

Capt Ahmed Raza was one of those who embraced Shahadat in this incident.

Here is the quintessential problem faced in any insurgency.
The PA troops that are out there may go out in force to attack or remove the Taliban. The PA troops require constant logistical support during this entire process.
Comparatively, your usual TTP fellow survives solely on four things.. his gun, his shawl, his water bottle and an extra magazine.
On these things this man is capable of remaining in an area of conflict for months on end. Because at some point he does have somebody that he knows who will provide him water and food on the go..regardless of whether they support TTP or not.

His means of communications is even more intriguing, everything from normal cellphones to encrypted burst transmission radio's have been found with these fellows. include the many tunnels and dense vegetation pathways that line the area.. then the lines of communication for this force are never interrupted. In essence, you may stamp out all the ants coming from an ant hole.. but since there are many nests and many ways to get to the nests.. you will never end the infestation.

There are still many Cambodias within the FATA region from where the Cong are able to move their men and material to the DMZs..and bombing the Ho Chi Minh trails will have little effect other than a further radicalized population. The only solution lies in breeding enough ants of a different species so that they may overpower this one.
In the meantime..considering that a large section of civillians have been evacuated..the use of non-conventional weapons such as Chemical agents(those sufficiently powerful to overpower gas masks)within these supply lines might be considered.
