israel did an extensive air campaign. In fact even some of their munitions ran out and they had to get a refill from the US.
Hezbollah was well fortified in their underground bunkers, so the air war was a huge failure. Which is why they had to go into southern lebanon in a ground war, which was an even bigger fail.

No I agree with you, but considering that the israeli will have a point to prove the next air war may be very punishing, and they will have prepared this time i.e, obtained the relevant missiles/bombs and targets, as well as a well planned media campaign

You dont always have to be bigger and better then your enemy you just have to be able to hurt and punish them

Hezbollah are well trained, they have a good strategy with a number of bunkers, tunnels and fortified area's etc.
So any ground war would be difficult because even though the israli's have a number of assets they can be hurt and hurt bad by well drilled hezbollah units. The israeli's know this, they also know they cant occupy southern lebabanon, it failed once and it will failed again.

As long as hezbollah has good, accurate missiles to fire into Israel and keep cities like tel aviv under a missle embargo any war for israel would be foolish

This is not to say they wont try it though.
