Lol... maybe some indians are planning to go to the middle east by walking and crossing borders but here in bangladesh everyone goes there by the aeroplane, if they do not have money the loan some money and then do it. Your logic is Bangladeshis will go to india to be sweepers and beggars, but the problem is that does not make sense as we are already having shortage of labour in some industries. These industries are training uneducated workers for free and then giving them a job + food. Tell me why would any one go to India for begging?

I am specifically asking your countrymen for proof that there are indeed 20 million illegal Bangladeshis in India (which they have failed miserably), which by the way is 13% of Bangladesh's population.

NO. I do not want to see videos, or political lectures or Wikipedia or articles with political agendas.

I want actual scholarly proof of that '20 million' number. Why would hordes of Bangladeshis illegally immigrate to India? What for? Begging? People don't immigrate to other countries to beg.

And just how do they differentiate between a 71' war refugee and a an illegal immigrant?

My dear sibling, 71 was a different case, when flocks of people arrived we had to provide them shelter under humanitarion considerations.
Once the war was over, we should have sent those back, but unfortunatly it was a grose mistake on the part of the GoI to let most of them stay back, now those how try to immigrate illigally are few in numbers and are interested in making a better life than what they have been in BD, thats a cold truth. In the desire to get a better life they dare to face the BSF bullets. I do not believe in killing human beings but i belive that both the Rangers and BSF on our side can do better jobs by setting a perimeter along the border to make sure that no citizen enter that zone.
The damage to Indian states of Assam and West Bengal was already done in 71 when the Congress let the refugees to stay.

Well mate i dont know what they say the reason is for BSF shooting our civilians but here is the true story. Smugglers from both countries cross the border illegally to evade taxes, this is a billion dollar business in the india-bd border. Even the border guards are involved in it, most of the time they shoot when there is some misunderstanding between them. But make no mistake, people from both sides are involved in it, because without the support of both sides, this would not have been possible. Many poor people die because border states tend to be poor and the idea of making a quick buck is very appealing to them, even if it means risking their lives.

Well we have a pretty good system in place to detect any Bangladeshi with our immigration department. We just put them in test and find them out within few hours.

Some of the tests are as below.

1) We put them in front of a latrine by the river bank. If they run to riverbank for poo then its not a Bangladeshi but an Indian.
2) Then to be more sure, we watch whether they wash their hand after poo. If they dont then its sure an Indian.
3) Then we give them different kind of food, for instance beef, rats, python, monkeys. If they first touch rats then its sure an Indian.
4) Then we provide them with, beer, urine, water, sodas. If they go for Urine then its sure an Indian.
5) Then we let them talk, if they speak some weired language than Bengali then its sure an Idian.
6) Then we look at their attire. If that looks Indian, then sure he/she an Indian.
7) Then we ask them question, like how much money he makes in India. If that is less than our minimum salary then sure its an Indian

These are very rigorous testing method and we identify both Indians and Bangladeshi that way. If Indians feel that they found a Bangladeshis, they are welcome to bring them on to our immigration department and let them have those test passed to get into Bangladesh.

mmm...okay there are problems in the BD-Indo borders, we all admit.

But the question is, why isn't neither government doing anything to address the apparent illegal immigration issue? Especially considering that the current AL government is pro-India.

The only thing we received from the BSF is to make sure no ULFA militants are hiding in BD territory. And that's it! Nothing about containing illegal immigration from Bangladesh to India!

As far as cattle-smugglers go, yes they are there. And they do so at their own risk. Frankly, I am not too fond of folks evading taxes. But the stake of this issue is on both sides. This is probably the reason why India set up the fence.

Ofcourse I realised you were being sarcastic...I do follow your posts and I do like some them, but I had to clarify to the Bdeshis whose blood pressure seems to running high.
