Egypt and Dassault Aviation have started negotiations for the sale of twelve additional Rafale. A contract signed in 2016?

In the wake of the visit of François Hollande in Egypt in April, negotiations between the Egyptian army and Dassault Aviation have started to purchase twelve optional Rafale planned in the contract signed in February 2015, according to several sources. The tricolor manufacturer has even submitted a bid to the Egyptians, according to our information.

A contract signed by the end of the year?

Some sources close and interviewed by La Tribune consider possible the signing of the contract before the end of the year while others remain cautious at this stage of the negotiations.
Especially between France and Egypt, there are currently many other discussions in the field of armaments. Cairo, which has signed the purchase of a military telecommunications satellite (Airbus and Thales Alenia Space Space Systems), will certainly prioritize all of its defense needs.

Besides the 12 Rafale, the French groups offer Cairo arming four corvettes Gowind sold in 2014 along with four other warships (two new Gowind the Adroit patrol and 54 meters of P400 type).
For its part, Safran offers the tactical UAV Patroller, which was selected by the French Army.
Helicopters Airbus pushes the NH90 transport helicopter: 24 copies including 12 TTH (land version) and 12 NFH (marine version).
Finally, Airbus wants sell Egypt the A400M military transport aircraft in Egypt (10 to 12 units).

I have no doubt that Egypt will acquire more Rafales.
I have no informations saying it will happen this year though.
More ships is also likely but again, no time frame is cleared.

In general ( pun intended ), Sisi is hard-nosed but pragmatic.
He and his team are likely to remember who's willing to help out
and who delivers useful tools without undue usage hindrance.

well mind you how long did it take from them to buy the first lot of rafales about 6 months from firstl negoations to signing. they are only exercising the options they have so procurement would be quicker it depends on picre as the first lot was supposed to be for the french airfore but was prioritised for eygpt instead meaning they would be a premium on price and also cost to remove french kit and install the kit requested my eygpt. this time it wont be that case

Just being prepared and up to date after years of ignoring the army , we have more than 150 aircraft that will be phased out on the next 5 years

more than 2,000 tanks that will be obsolete , we had a powerful yet weak navy with the most powerful frigate the "perry class" and bunch of other useless subs and surface fleet

the ongoing deals are just steps to put us back on track and we are doing it ..

it follows years of neglect. For the 2003-2007 period, Egypt
was not in the world top ten, not even in the African top five!

When you look at these things, go from yearly standings to
last five years period to 20 years span to check the given na-
tion's evolution.

Scalp Naval has a range of 1000km,so,Egypt will never be sold that.
