What's the obsession with importing something which is at the end of its life ?Well, the problem is, due to our small number of passengers who used airliners, we don't need those big planes.
If we want to have a developed country , we don't need wide body planes. We need railways and civil projects. Throwing 18 Bn into trash was a grave mistake. Imagine what we could do with that money.
At least we could develop a homemade fighter jet or import squadrons of SU-30Sm fighter jet, long range defense systems etc.
And those airplanes are not for developing the country ,they are for developing tourism industry.
And they are not for internal flights those plane are for international flights .right now our passengers had to use foreign airlines if we had those planes we could save a lot of money .
We need airplanes which can fly to south America and superjet 100 is not that plane .This deal that was imposed on negotiating team alongside with JCPOA, looks like canceled under US imposed sanctions.
Nevertheless, Iran had already some local plans to develop a reliable civilian airplane with looking at Iranian requirements :
Budget problems was the reason of this treason to local industries.
In the meantime, Iran could have other alternatives that could fit Iran's local requirement to a civilian plane.
Such as Russian Super-Sukhoi-100.
@mohsen
And about those design from isfahan show me just a single subsystem that is actually produced .
Our engineers could not understand that Iran 140 engine is a disaster for Iran climate and yet you want they design a big airplane before even fixing their act on Iran-140
