Did anyone note that the Senate, yesterday, passed 5 bills unanimously of which MQM was a severe critic of atleast 1 ATA amendment. Most of the political parties had serious reservations on these bills and suddenly everything is hunky dowry and even MQM supports the bill?
1 thing is for certain, the Western World would not provide refuge/asylum to a major political player unless they had some interest, that is my personal opinion. Perhaps AH was unwilling to sing to the British tune, for some reason, and hence the coercive tactics. In any case, the next few days will be very severe on most of those who are celebrating in this thread.
Furthermore, as some one had said earlier, most of the Pakistanis/Indians/Sri Lankans/Bengalis etc. use alternative channels for money transfers mostly because they include no extra charges and happen almost instantaneously. We know of them as hawala/hundi and they are banned in many countries. However, just because an alternative channel is used for the transfer of funds, they do not become laundered. All MQM/AH has to do is produce evidence that the money was not earned through illegal means and then the British legal system will have nothing to prove predicate offence behind the funds, ML charges will be dropped or penalised at the most with fines.
