AKUH doctor 'sacked' over sending FB friend request to Sharmeen Obaid's sister

Awww Sharmeen wants more attention
time to make he new movie about how female patients in Pakistan are harassed and impregnated by doctors and kids born are being sold to human smuglers and all this with the approval of Hospitals and Pakistani govt.

WTH...fired for adding to the facebook....really??? First of all, that's pretty fcuked up that she reported but even worse is on the part of AKUH for entertaining such a ridiculous and absurd report.

That's really abhorring. If she's didn't like, there used to be an ignore button on FB as far as I remember.

And BTW under which definition and law sending a friend request on FB can be termed as harassment :hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

That's why I call these libturds to be hypocrites.
I wish the Dr best of luck and I have a feeling he will be better off starting his own hospital or moving abroad.

Here’s my 2 cents on this story.

Well I agree that doctor is on a position where he needs to be very careful and responsible not for patients only but their privacy as well. There’s no disagreement on this.
All of us receive so many friend requests of totally unknown people on Facebook and Instagram and that is no way of harrsament. Is that? Why not simply using the option of changing privacy to friends or public. Go and change your privacy and make it strict rather whining the same tool which is confused for harassment. Even if that doesn’t sound sane to this lady, call him personally and warn him. Why don’t you change your Dr? Also, have anyone heard from the second side of the story? Maybe dr only wanted to contact for her medical problems?
Don’t doctors give you their email and phone #s and ask you to call if you need anything or have any question. So that’s harassment too according to ms. Obaid’s logic.
Another thing I hated in her tweets was, criticizing Pakistan and boundaries in Pakistan. What does this ‘friend request’ has to do with Pakistan’s norms & boundaries?
If that happens in any other country other than Pakistan, this same person will call it “liberalism”.
I’m so done with these wannabe feminists. They are actually being the reason to damage the real issue of “women rights”.

Who is gonna question this woman for becoming the reason of a woman’s divorce. Extremism in any form is dangerous.

Check & balance is very important key for anything work better talk about institutions or ideas carried for betterment of society. If there’s used of extremism, it will bounce back and cause a great damage to the real problem.

IMO the doctor behaved inappropriately, if he wants to communicate with her on professional matters then their is official email or surgery phone no....Sharmeen is no friend of Pakistan, she exaggerates to sell a story and is no better than some of the other 2 bit charlatans we have in this country.Kudos

Since you're eagerly awaiting for my response, here goes.

It was unethical and unprofessional for the Doctor to send an unsolicited friend request. She was a patient and her contact details should've remained confidential. Is she a colleague? No. An Aquitance? No. Friend? No. Their relationship was strictly professional, a Dr medicating a patient. On that basis it was wrong and totally unprofessional.

I do agree on one point, people do not act as responsible professionals. A hotel I once stayed at in Pakistan, the receptionist within 2 days sent me a friend request. It was the most awkwardest feeling since I never conversed with him except maybe greet on the way in. This idea of adding people whilst in profession is unacceptable and creepy. Unless you become friends and give consensus.

However, to make an announcement on social media and criticising the Country as a whole wasn't correct either. Further to that the definition of Harassment is over doing it. It was a first attempt. She could've declined, if it was a continuous act - then that's classed as harassment.

Lastly, firing was a harsh decision. They should've followed a correct procedure of perhaps giving a verbal or written disciplinary warning or undergo temporary suspension. Finding a job at Agha Hospital is dream come true for any practitioner so this was an extremely harsh decision, costing someone their job.
