BellBottom, an action thriller starring Akshay Kumar, has been banned from release in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait due to content “not fit for exhibition”.

“Although the film is inspired by a true event, it is not the replication of actual happenings,” a disclaimer states in the trailer.

BellBottom is inspired by the hijackings of Indian Airlines flights in the 1980s during Indira Gandhi’s tenure as prime minister.

A source told Bollywood Hungama that the film shows Indian officials and Akshay Kumar’s character, an Indian agent by the code name Bell Bottom, as the hero of the entire episode.

“The second half of BellBottom shows the hijackers taking the aircraft to Dubai from Lahore. As per the actual incident that took place in 1984, UAE Defence Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, had personally handled the situation and it was the UAE authorities who had nabbed the hijackers.”

In the film, the UAE defence minister is shown to have been kept in the dark by Indian officials.

“So there’s a strong possibility that the Censor Board in the Middle Eastern countries have taken objection to it and hence banned it,” the source said.

Lara Dutta plays Indira Gandhi and her transformation had left fans and followers surprised.

Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi are part of the cast too.

BellBottom was released on August 19, 2021.

Indians are obsessed with movies of plane hijacking. They have numerous movies about the same events… and as expected with fake stories… almost every time the plane lands in Pakistan or Afghanistan and their hero comes to save it whereas in reality they had to release prisoners and agree to terms and conditions set out by terrorists

İ mean they are diametrically opposed İndia hatred for muslims. While Arabs fathered İslam(or brought it back to be accurate).

Only covergance is money.

Good - most Bollywood movies are diarrhoea for eyes. Having said that, are there any movies made in Saudi at all? doesn't look like those places have the concept of media industry.

This is how they won all war with their adversaries until today
and this is how most of our PFD indian trolls learnt history :D

Great to know that. Then I also read -

On 11 December 2017, the Saudi Arabian Minister of Culture and Information announced that public movie theaters would be allowed by 2018.

That's a huge media industry o_O

No, forgive me for not taking any interests in saudi media industry. In India we prioritised our own channels and media over western imports. It provides significant employment opportunities within the country.

As for saudi arabia, they have a much higher GDP/capita. but do you not know that all the oil profits go to a select few?
The petroleum sector accounts for roughly 87% of Saudi budget revenues, 90% of export earnings, and 42% of GDP.[22] Saudi Arabia's oil reserves and production are largely managed by the state-owned corporation Saudi Aramco.

For such high average income, they have extremely high unemployment rates. What does it imply? only the royals take the money and rest remain extremely poor.

That's an extremely high unemployment rate for youths, and specially in a country with high GDP per capita. Anyone with semblance of logic knows the answer.
Most of the oil revenue flows right into the hands of the royal family. At least 80 percent of the revenue in the Saudi treasury comes from petroleum, but the average Saudi citizen does not benefit from those gains. The central government in Riyadh, where the royal family is settled, receives most of the oil profits.
---
Moreover, with so much revenue coming in from oil, the government is still unable to provide jobs for its citizens. Saudi Arabia provides one in four barrels of oil exported around the world, yet 40 percent of Saudi youth between twenty and twenty-four are unemployed. The unemployment is partly due to the fact that 90 percent of all employees in the private sector are foreign workers.

I would love to know how those 40% unemployed youths can afford food, let alone private cinemas.

Reality is that indians were shitting bricks when their plane got hijacked last time. They had to release molana azhar and many many more and beg for theor ppl on that plane.

Their only achievements are in the movies, in real life they run like sheep as recently we watched in Afghanistan. but wait for the bollywood movie about this and it will make all thinly legged pot bellied creatures proud of their heros LMAO

although we are going offtopic here . but this started in recent years sir . historically they have much more money and they enjoyed good lives .even poor one have allowances better then our salaries . and having homes SUVs too . lets come back on topic now . do you think its ok to digest other countries something like hijacking as cake ? hijacking is a serious issue most countries dont wanna involve on it . last time when indian plane was hijacked pakistan tried her best to avoid involving in it . we scrambled f-16s to push that damn plane away we switch off airports and we deny landing until indians were begging to let it land or it was going to crashed in pakistan . no country want to involve in this mess . but indians are making movies one after one involving many countries and all that with alleged tampering with historical facts.
