Intro;
The project to design and produce a active protection system named AKKOR - abbreviation of Aktif Koruma, translating into Active Protection - was publicly announced in December 15, 2010. It's being designed in accordance to the requirements of the Turkish Army and it's planned to be installed on the ALTAY tanks that will make up the army's future heavy cavalry. The following is a snippet from the official declaration of it:

Objective:
To develop active protection system for ALTAY Tank.

Scope:
The Project includes design, development, test and qualification and production of two prototypes of Prototype-1 and two prototypes of Prototype-2 and delivery of the prototypes to SSM by Main Contractor

Project Model:

The project is maturing parallell to the development of the ALTAY tank, and the SSM [Undersecretariat for Defence Industries] has today announced that ASELSAN and OTOKAR has been invited to join in:
