Air Vice-Marshal (retd) AK Khandker was sued today in Brahmanbaria for claiming in his new book that Mujib Bahini, a special force formed by Awami League to fight against Pakistan forces, was involved in looting after the Liberation War.
"1971: Bhetore Baire" is a recently published memoir of Khandker, who acted as deputy chief of the Bangladesh Mukti Bahini during the war and served as planning minister during the 2008-2013 AL rule, that earned him strong criticism from different quarters, especially the ruling AL and Sector Commanders' Forum.
One Ishaq Bhuiyan, a freedom fighter, filed the defamatory case this afternoon with a Brahmanbaria court, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
