Well, many researchers have done through research on this matter and have finally come to the conclusion that death toll was around 1.5 million. So the figure 3 million was perhaps a bit exaggerated.

R. J Rummel is famous for his researches in these matters and he has declared in his book that no less than 1.5 million people was brutally murdered by Pak army in the 71 WAR. It has also been Declared by UN as one of the worst genocides in the history of mankind.

Mujib was not the propogator of breaking up Pakistan- that process began with Ayub.

At one point General Ayub Khan was the GOC of East Pakistan. This Pathan (really a Hazarawala) was liked and loved by almost everyone in east Pakistan especially the top political people. One reason might have been he was very handsome.

However, our love was not reciprocated by him. He usurped power at a time when a new Constitution was going to be accepted in the NA. During his term, he did much development works also in the east. But, his main motive was not to allow the Ugly Bengalis to share their fates with handsome guys in the west. He bullied even H.S Suhrawardy, the former PM of Pakistan, and forced him out of Pakistan. He was from the east.

Another was Yahya Khan. Many people do not know but when Iskander Mirza, a former President, died in London, his body was not allowed to be brought back by him because he was from east. The Shah of Iran allowed his body to be buried in his country. What hypocrisy!!

Both of them were xenophobic. Both destroyed the process of the ruling by democracy that would cause the rise of Ugly Bengalis in the civil service, military, trade & business and politics causing both the groups of people to equally share the benefits of development and wealth.

Ayub Khan initiated a policy that destroyed the democracy resulting in the division of Pakistan into two. Now, after half a century, the Ugly Bengalis are trying their best to develop their part of the country. I wish the same will be done by the Handsome people in the west.

I have not heard of it. Was it between Muhajir and other people from Punjab and NWFP? Many different ethnic people live in Karachi. Kashmiris, Makranis, Baluchis are also there.

The confusion was, whether "Joy" means "long live" or "victory". The "Jeeye Sindh" implies "Long live Sindh", whereas "Bharat Mata ki Jay" means "Victory to Bharat Mata". The word "Joy" has phonetic similarity to both.

This joy Bangla is also long live Bangla. In the sense of the glory, honor and prosperity of Bengal prevail.

On the other hand joy is also victory, but I believe the AL slogan meaning is the first one.
