It is fact. Everyone has to accept fact. Rafale top speed Mach 1.8. MiG-29 K top speed Mach 2+. Zero top speed 350 mph. F6F top speed 391 mph.

Well the MiG 29K/KuB was imposed on us thanks to the bundled offer with INS Vikramaditya.Navy already is looking for alternates and the Rafale M could be a major contender.
But it is a very capable Air Superiority fighter and can use almost all the Soviet/CIS/Russian origin munitions available with the Air Force so weapons cost are kept under control.
And with three squadrons, it's bigger than the Fighter fleet of many nations so that is another major plus point.

INS Vikramaditya was never supposed to be equipped with MiG-29 K. It was supposed to be equipped with Yak-141. It was India navy that insisted on MiG-29 K instead of Yak-141. Don't blame the Russians.

Same generation and Rafale has no advantage over MiG-29 K. In fact the latter is faster by quite a bit. Like F6F 380 mph compared to Zero 350 mph.

top speed doesn't matters, accelerations and thrust to weight ratio matter most for maneuverability/agility, you can't beat the SAMs/AAMs on only relying top speed or maneuverability/agility, the only way to counter AAMs/SAMs is ECM/EW/RWR ,in which RAFALE is far far a head from MIG-29 K @undertakerwwefan
