It is quite powerful. 32000 lb of thrust. Certainly more powerful than any engine on F-15. WS-15 would be on par with F-35 engine. F-22 engine thrust is classified, but believed to be 35000 lb thrust.

INS Vikramaditya was never supposed to be equipped with MiG-29 K. It was supposed to be equipped with Yak-141. It was India navy that insisted on MiG-29 K instead of Yak-141. Don't blame the Russians.

For now Rafale has better electronics than MiG-29 K / KUB because it got AESA and MiG-29 K / KUB don't. However, MiG-29 K / KUB has better T/W ratio and is faster and costs less than half as much as Rafale. So overall MiG-29 K / KUB is better.

RD-33 MK is not costly to service. On par with M88. The older engines were smoky. RD-33 MK is not smoky and has FADEC.

Russians supplied the planes and the spare parts and even the technicians. It's up to Indians to make the machines work. If they can't, don't blame Russians, blame themselves.

Similar size. You can think of Rafale as a modern P-40 Warhawk or P-51 Mustang, MiG-29 K as a modern F4F Wildcat or F6F Hellcat.

I have read somewhere that indian navy is not happy with Mig 29k because of aforementioned reasons. Maybe mig 35 is better but it's a interceptor and not a carrier based jet.

I think it's a new article from 2017 or 2018. It's one of those new propagandas. MiG-29 K in service since 2010. No such reports before 2017. Means propaganda from America.

Still behind to west in engine development field at least 10-15 year, and its a same catagory with AL-41F-1 engine on Su-57,with that engine J-20 can't supercruise @undertakerwwefan
