Prabowo Subianto, the only older generation leader who still want to compete in Presidential Election 2024, is supported by his own party, Gerindra Party, to enter 2024 Presidential Election.

West Java branch of Gerindra Party has declared him as Gerindra President candidate. For your information, Jokowi cannot participate in 2024 Presidential election as he has crossed the limit of having 2 term administration. We can see also some recent survey conducted by Kompas media on several Presidential candidates popularity.

Latest survey from Poltracking put Ganjar Pranowo as the most popular candidate with around 18 %. Ganjar, Prabowo, and Anies Baswedan are the strongest candidate to be the next Indonesia President. Poltracking is quite credible and their survey history shows consistency with the real result in election as I have seen so far, much better accuracy than Kompas survey.

It will be a good move if Ganjar Pranowo do coalition with the Anies Baswedan that is supported by Islamist supporters.

Unlike Jokowi wife, Ganjar wife wear Hijab and I think he has some appeal to the Muslim group as he never show any opposition to Muslim group as far as I follow his political move. Jokowi in other hand is quite left and not staying in the middle like Megawati did during her Presidency in 2002-2004.

The Gerindra Party has jumped on the early campaign bandwagon to shore up support for Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto for the 2024 presidential election, following the party chairman’s strong showing in recent electability polls.

The head of the party’s central board, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said over the weekend that more than a dozen regional boards from across the country had declared their support for Prabowo, despite the election being three years away. These include the West Java and Central Java regional boards, which the House of Representatives deputy speaker said had endorsed Prabowo because of his perceived electability.

If you refer to the possibility of Anies Baswedan who is backed by hard line Islamist group will win the election as not a good sign, I think you are false. I dont think there will be any major change on Indonesia whether it is lead by Islamist or Nationalist. The thing that is not yet known is the candidate program on economy, defense, research, foreign policy and so on.

I think Today Indonesia politics is more on program rather than division between Islamist and Nationalist, because both Islamist and Nationalist candidate understand deeply that in order to win an election they need to go to the center. Jokowi for instant as Nationalist leader pick a conservative Muslim leader as his running mate and try very hard to look more Islam as he can. And there are also nationalist parties who are more comfortable to make an alliance with Islamist party than with other nationalist.

Before Jokowi comes to power, Indonesia for instant was lead by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) whose party is Democrat and he get supported by Islamic parties. So the division between Islamist and Nationalist in Indonesia is not too tick just like happening during Egypt democracy rule.

The thing that I think will be different is foreign policy, even though both Islamist and Nationalist candidate will still back Palestinian struggle and contribute positively in OIC but Islamist leader IMO will be more sensitive to Islam matter and cause.

There is no hope unless and until Indonesia amends her constitution to declare Indonesia as an Islamic Country. Get rid of all secular nonsense already.

That's a week argument. Islam grew from Arabia to Persia to South Asia and South East Asia due the policy of ruling by Islamic principles starting with Rashidun Khalifha. If you keep diluting that policy with your secular nonsense then you are going against Islam.
