You know, when the dams are all filled up and the doors are opened suddenly, what happens ? Flash floods. And they are more destructive because of potential energy built up as water rises and when dam gates are opened, it transforms into turns into kinetic energy.

Afghanistan fires 7 mortar shells inside Pakistan

PESHAWAR: According to Pakistani officials at least seven mortar shells were fired from the Afghan soil which landed in the border area of Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday afternoon.



The security officials confirmed the shelling by unidentified people believed to be Afghan security personnel, did not incur any casualties to local residents.



The shelling, according to the sources, continued for several minutes. The mortar shells were fired from Tarkhobi area in Afghanistan’s Khost province.



Cross-border shelling has heightened tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan as the two countries accuse each other of firing.



Islamabad has been repeatedly asking Kabul to stop cross-border shelling, the Afghan officials however denies any involvement and blames Pakistan for violating border sovereignty.



Local officials said dozen people including security personnel have been killed or injured following missiles attacks by Afghan National Army and Afghan militants during the past months.
