We have gone thru a lot but look at Angola and Mozambique now, complete stablisation. A stable neighbourhood is good. Unfortunately, the truth is Afghanistan is a proxy play ground for all the neighbouring powers and the population of afghanistan is letting them run the show.
Angola and Mozambique learned their lesson and stopped interfering in other sovereign nations' business. Afghanistan will be stable ONLY IF if the megalomaniacs in Kabul stop treating their country as a playground for others to play on. They're the ones that killed their own rural population in the name of modernity, invited a communist invasion, created a conservative backlash in the form of Taliban, and keep begging for foreigners to occupy their country only the vain hope that there is going to be "stability". Fact is the US, Pakistan, or anyone else can't do anything to for them. Hopeless cause and the solution might have to be disintegration and partition so the unfortunate people of what is currently Afghanistan can finally live in peace within and without.
