Afghan Transit Trade - Smuggling of Indian Products started

Direct shipments from India are not allowed.

I still do not understand....then tell me how the indian goods are being smuggled into Pakistan which are destined for Afghanistan? If the land route is not allowed then how else is it transported??? If Wagah is not allowed for direct shipment, any other port is allowed ??

Cheap quality indian junk garbage items will be smuggled from Afghanistan & damage Pakistani industries.
The junk of india(which they are exporting to Afghanistan) pass through Pakistani highways free of cost & damage Pakistani roads & highways.

1. NLC earns because cargo moves on NLC fleet
2. Port earns from loading & off loading. Some times from demurrage.
3. Transporter earns.
4. On highways, weigh is compulsory for these vehicles, as well as highway authority charge them.
5 Karachi Customs, Nowshehra Customs (Now Jamrud Customs) and Torkham Customs collectively charge around 10000 PKR.

We need to work on loopholes and need to catch black sheep. We can not just cancel this agreement as we also export our products via Afghanistan. And also note US, Nato and other diplomatic cargo does not come in Afghanistan as per APTTA (Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement).

No Indian export to Afghanistan passes via Pakistan, through Pakistan import 4 billion worth of Indian goods via UAE. You already have a gun market at Darra Adamkhel.

If every importer says that the goods are destined for Afghanistan and not pay taxes then net loser is Pakistan. How much of trade are we talking about??? What mechanism have you in place to deter this kind of fraud??

After Afghan Trade Transit Trade, smuggling of goods from India has started. Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) on Saturday seized Indian made CNG cylinders in Karachi which were imported through Afghan Transit but later smuggled to Karachi from Queta. According to ASO - smuggling of CNG cylinders and kits from India and Iran has increased. During last one week ASO team has seized 5 luxury vehicles, 1500kg Tea, dozens of LCD TVs. All these items were imported through Afghan Transit Trade.

For reals? Smuggling CNG cylinders? :rofl:

They really must be worth their weight in gold in Pakistan.

It is not that easy, the Importer must provide his/her Afghanistan work license at Karachi port to clear the cargo. Consignee / Company name must be mentioned on shipping documents. Pakistan govt only need to make sure that cargo is going Afghanistan and this purpose customs escort the convoy of cargo as well as no local transporter is allowed to move it. It only goes on NLC fleet.

Freight forwarding company is bound to provide Pakistani Goods declaration form signed and stamped from Afghanistan Customs.
You can not hold the cargo in any terminal anywhere in Pakistan, when the cargo is moved from Karachi port, the cross border certificate must be submitted within 20 days. There are few more things to protect the smuggling, trust me no one can smuggle the cargo unless whole mafia is involved.

This report conveniently ignored the flooded market with Indian cosmetics and auto parts etc.

Bloody, politicians always talk about raising tax level but they are fed well to keep mouth shut on open smuggling.

Iranian petrol and bitumen is openly sold in Pakistan.... how can we blame smugglers alone for such a large scale smuggling.

What kind of Auto parts are we talking about ? Aren't the Cars sold in Pakistan different from the one's in India.
