Afghan Transit Trade - Smuggling of Indian Products started

No dear - It doesn't reach Afghanistan but disappear in Quetta. via UAE or directly from India doesn't matter - it's just political thing because on all imports you have to pay custom duty while clearing the shipment but for Afghan-Transit there is no duties.

This is our incompetency really, all ATT cargo move on NLC fleet or on NOC of NLC and in convoy with almost 7 to 8 copies of GDs (Good declaration) forms. There is a very tough check and balance system and if some one gets a way, this is our incompetency.

Why would we need to smuggle it, we are getting same price by exporting it to UAE, its the Pakistanis who are buying it at expensive rate generating profit for middleman.

exporting to dubai and shipping charge is costly, they can just use the transit bribe the customs and let their product into pakistan while moving it to afghanistan, this is because pakistan has yet not started trading with india

There is no goods destined for Afghanistan from India that transits through Pakistan - Pakistan has not allowed India to transit goods to Afghanistan via Pakistan - what are you talking about?

It's very clear that Pakistani traders or Afghan traders divert goods supplied to Afghanistan to Pakistan. This has nothing to do with India.

in which fool's paradise you are living, indian goods are passing through pakistan to go to afghanistan, pakistan has given them passage into afghanistan

There is no goods destined for Afghanistan from India that transits through Pakistan - Pakistan has not allowed India to transit goods to Afghanistan via Pakistan - what are you talking about?

It's very clear that Pakistani traders or Afghan traders divert goods supplied to Afghanistan to Pakistan. This has nothing to do with India.

In Dubai free zone, there are thousands of paper companies which are used for dodge this. It's not a rocket science.

That is paid by middleman and added to the price.

I know without corrupt officers it's not easy but still but at the end it will destroy our industry and economy.

if something gets away it may even be for terror activities, we need to be stricter on it

You seem to be living in gaga land - go and check yourself - Pakistan has refused direct transit to Afghanistan via Pakistan - only one consignment of wheat was allowed by Pakistan because it was aid to Afghanistan.

No that is durgs smuggling - In this case traders send consignment from India showing that it's for Afghanistan, So they don't have to pay custom duties and taxes at port as per FCUKING Afgan-Transit-Trade. But these consignments are sold within Pakistan. So - Pakistan is losing on avg 60% of consignment value revenues.

what the hell?? we arnt even getting paid for letting indians in our home and into afghanistan??

After Afghan Trade Transit Trade, smuggling of goods from India has started. Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) on Saturday seized Indian made CNG cylinders in Karachi which were imported through Afghan Transit but later smuggled to Karachi from Queta. According to ASO - smuggling of CNG cylinders and kits from India and Iran has increased. During last one week ASO team has seized 5 luxury vehicles, 1500kg Tea, dozens of LCD TVs. All these items were imported through Afghan Transit Trade.

Open the borders and let people decide what they want from other side. Make it legal and collect duties and then decide how it is impacting the economy. How can 4 billion dollar trade can have any meaningful impact on a 200 billion dollar economy? Even if you stop all imports from India, you would still have to import the same from some other country costing substantially more. So, you are basically shifting your purchases from one country to another. Or in worst case you take the trade underground robbing you of precious revenue. If goods are being pilfered from Afghan Transit to Pakistan, it shows there is a big need for these goods in your country. If you want this smuggling to stop, make it legal. Impose appropriate duties on the same and bring down on illegal smuggling. Key is not to over burden the consumers which this liberal trade regime is supposed to facilitate.

That's your problem, it's either your people or whoever is doing it, why drag India into it when it's no where concerned with it.

OK, thanks didn't know that, Please educate your people here that Pakistan does not allow any direct transit through Pakistan of Indian goods either to Afghanistan or the Central Asia and any internal smuggling that happens in Pakistan is done by Pakistani's or Afghans and no way concerns India or Indians.

Don't know about transit from Pakistan, last time Chabahar was used to supply wheat to Afghanistan

There were two consignments of Humanitarian aid of wheat that India had promised to Afghanistan, one consignment of 100,000 tons went through Iran the other Pakistan had given permission to transit due to humanitarian nature - but now I learn that that hasn't happened.

Pakistan is paying heavy price on many fronts - loss of lives and property through proxy terrorist organizations, loss of economy because of security situation, cheapest transit fees for NATO & Afghan Transit which is barely an income when cost wear and tear of roads is deducted. Duty free transit leads to smuggling causing heavy losses of duties+taxes which also destroy local industry which effect tax revenues from local industry. In return US always ranting AID which is actually CSF (Collation Support Fund) which was agreed expenses of war to be reimbursed. In short Pakistan is being gang-rapped, If it continues for few more years it will collapse.
