It does not make sense for China to fight India directly,when they already have their army on the western border on India.

All these years China has only made claims on the land,despite being more powerful than India. Hell they are yet to defeat the tiny island of Taiwan,other than declaring it as "renegade province"!.

I dont hold that view on the 'human-wave' Chinese at all, Pakistani Generals are far more respected in the Indian Cadre as well as the world arena than the Chinese. Last time they brought down an American E-2C by banging into it. You should read about the 1987 India-China Incident.

I would say there were not bad in 1962.IA faced much higher casualties than the Chinese. However the mess within IA was also one of the reason. But then it was 1962 and there aint gonna be another 62.
The chinese advance was heavily gifted by the stupidity of our leaders. IA is not gonna let the chinese walk away with another smile on their face!

Comparing IA of 62 to that of today is next to impossible in my opinion; I expect to see major changes in the next few years.
1962, China had to move back at the same speed they came, its all about deployment and logistics, They succeeded in Deployment but lost out on logisitics. I would call them lucky. I am in no means under-estimating them, But If we are looking for a proper fight, I rather take a 'strategic thinking' spirited-Pakistani general. I had a good view of the Chinese armed forces till I saw the pictures of their recent excercises, can you believe they still use the Human Wave tactic

I am fairly impressed by the forward deployed IA bases in Western sector as well as the Eastern sector. ColdStart Doctrine is being seriosuly pursued.
