Abu Abbas - Hezbollah's commander of operations in Syria Killed

BEIRUT (AP) — A Lebanese security official says a Hezbollah commander and several other fighters from the militant group have been killed in Syria.


The Shiite Muslim group is a strong ally of the Syrian regime. The Syrian opposition has long accused the group of assisting President Bashar Assad crack down on the 18-month-old uprising, a claim the group has denied.


The security official said Tuesday that Hezbollah commander Ali Hussein Nassif’s body was brought to Lebanon through the Masnaa border crossing. He spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.


It was not clear whether he had been fighting alongside the Syrian army.


Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV showed the funerals of at least two Hezbollah members it said were killed while performing their ‘‘jihadi duty.’’

The FSA can't even control a city like Aleppo. Where are you talking about? Even the sunni's in Lebanon are terrified by Hezbollah.

If Assad goes Hezbollah could lose an important logistical route through Syria. If they're smart they should play a more neutral role. It's hard to support Assad regime given media vested interests as well as international condemnation

FSA also loses some legitimacy because of some tactics they use which also harms civilians. Assad won't last if more people in his armed forces and his cabinet defect

Syria issue as far as I see it is an internal issue and would require Syrian only solution. Outside countries shouldn't be PART of the problem in my view
