In modern tank combat, the range and projectile power is more important than weight. There are also the electronic suites, for day/night vision, battle field integration and so on, but in the heat of the battle terrain plays a big role second only to range, projectile power, type of armor and vertical angles for the canon.

I don't think M1A2 can survive AK's 125 mm AP either, even those that have DU armor.

There is no evidence in this movie that the MBT was actually penetrated. And even if it was, consider that no MBT is designed to be RPG proof from all aspects, just over the frontal arc. You would end up with a 100ton slow and unwielding vehicle if you tried.

Wow you come up with a shitty site that is copied from Wikishmedia and uses Computer Simulation armor models?
No current MBT has ever been evaluated on its armor consistency and protection, those numbers are estimations by non experts for computer simulations.

Further for people who think there is such thing as heavy or medium MBT that does not exist and AK is based on T-72/T-98 it has 1/3 smaller in size than a Leopard 2 meaning it will have roughly 30-35% less weight go make your calculations and you will see both weight the same if you scale them to either size.

unfortunately, your quoted website is a tank sim inspired fantasy and refuted by many around the web.

Reality is, the two tanks are meant to fulfill desired roles they are designed for. It is not appropriate to compare apple with tomato.
