In a surprise move, V. Balakrishnan, who stepped down as Board member of software behemoth Infosys recently creating ripples in the corporate circles, has joined the Aam Admi Party.

“Yes I have become the member of AAP, have got the confirmation today,” Mr. Balakrishnan told PTI with his move to dabble in politics coming three weeks after his sudden exit from India’s second largest software services exporter.

“They (AAP) have revolutionised politics in this country, I’m fascinated with it,” Mr. Balakrishnan said.

Announcing Mr. Balakrishnan’s exit on December 20 as member of the Board and from services of the Company, Infosys had said the resignation is effective December 31, 2013.

Mr. Balakrishnan, who joined Infosys in 1991 and later became its chief financial officer, was said to be a top contender to the post of Chief Executive Officer.

In response to a question whether he was looking for a full time political career along with business commitments, he said, “In future, I think so...; I think I will be able to manage both.”

Mr. Balakrishnan, soon after his exit from Infosys, had said he was waiting for SEBI’s approval for his private equity fund, which he has formed along with former Infosys executive Mohandas Pai and former Wipro executive Girish Paranjpe.

To a question on contesting the Lok Sabha elections, he said, “It’s too early to say anything about it.”

Mr. Balakrishnan was also the BPO head at Infosys as well as the Chairman of Infosys Lodestone, a global management consultancy firm.

with due respect sir your party is to be equally blamed for the mess these idiots are about to make of economy and state of Delhi due to their extremely retarted policies

You all guyz nuts?

AAP members and ministers are those who left their 1 crore package jobs. Just see each and every member's educational qualification.

Problem all of you is you guyz are jaundiced and hence see everyone as yellow.

And for heaven's sake dont compare Akhilesh with Kejriwal.

Akhilesh is another equivalent of Rahul Gandhi who went to Australia for MBA coz he wasnt getting admission into an IIM or any top b school.

whereas, Arvind Kejriwal is an IIT/IFS who has a vision for making India corruption free.

Those who call him bubble first need to study his policies and then dare comment.

Dude, he is bashing AAP and Kejri. You misunderstood.

I asked you this question elsewhere:

emme ask you something- AK hs not only said that he'll slash prices but that he'll do that by breaking the water mafia and checking on why there has been an unnatural rise in electricity prices.
Shift to national level- every year like clockwork the same scenario plays out with onions- the onion mafia chokes supply, builds scarcity, pushes up prices and pockets it. This has happened in BJP as well as congress rule. They both know what's the game- the farmer is ALWAYS poor- the middleman always gets the money and BJP won't touch this because traders are their sacred cows. In reality if we need to control food inflation (like scarcity of water in delhi), we need to take on this mafia and break them. So kejriwal does something that no party wants to do and we think he's not 'smart' and he's just being 'populist'. I think their letting go of security is actually a disaster in the making. They really are a threat to the system, their lives truly are in danger and nothing wrong in keeping their lives and limbs safe when they are taking on such unscrupulous groups who WILL kill to keep their power.

For a 'soalist' party corporate honcos are moving to AAP. I don't see anyone making sacrifies of their corporate positions to joing BJP, congress has only one such- Nandan Nilekani

Lal Bahadur Shastri's grandson Adarsh Shastri leaves job at Apple to join AAP

NEW DELHI: From Apple to AAP, from a crore-plus annual salary to a job that promises no steady income, from deep pile carpets in corporate offices to an outfit that takes pride in brooms - that would be unusual enough.

But Adarsh Shastri (40), who joined Aam Aadmi Party on Friday, is not just any corporate high-flyer - he's the grandson of former Indian prime minister, late Lal Bahadur Shastri, and the son of Congress leader Anil Shastri.

This family pedigree - Congress is supporting Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi assembly but is also a bitter political rival - makes Adarsh a particularly attractive and high-profile recruit for AAP.

But the former PM's grandson isn't looking at his new role that way. Adarsh, who was head of sales for Apple in western India and working out of Mumbai, says his decision is based on personal conviction. "I had a cushy life with a great company. But somehow it did not feel right. I was inspired by Arvind (Kejriwal) and felt compelled to do more," Adarsh told ET.

He quit his Apple job in the first week of December, and says he first got interested in AAP about seven eight months ago. "Kejriwal's conviction impressed me," he said. But what did Adarsh tell his father, a long-time Congressman? "I told him I don't fit in with Congress culture," Adarsh said, and added that he has his father's "blessings".

"I have been talking to my parents about this for the past two to three months. I told them about my decision to finally join AAP a few days ago. My father said I should go ahead with it if I feel this is my life's calling," he said.

When contacted by ET, Anil Shastri said: "I have three sons and none of them had any political inclination. Maybe AAP changed the way he (Adarsh) thinks. Personally, I would have wanted him to join Congress, but he is an adult and he has the right to make his own decisions."

And what about money, ET asked Adarsh, whose family of four includes 9-year-old twin boys? He said he will start a small telecom company and make that his principal source of income.

But money's not that important when you do something you love, Adarsh said.

AAP hasn't assigned a specific role to Adarsh yet. He says he's ready for any role, anywhere in the country. Contesting in Lok Sabha elections? Sure, if the party wants me to, said Adarsh.

"I have put my experience on the table. I have spent over 15 years in the telecom sector and my area of expertise is quite evident to the party.

I am willing to take up any role, including contesting elections," he said. Adarsh's had campaigned for his father in 1989, 1991 and 1996 for Varanasi, Allahabad and Indore seats,.

But do understand, CMs and Politicians do get killed only by consent of other Politicians. And I dont think AK has not calculated this step. No other party wants to execute him till hes on Top. All the Mafias are actually our Ministers, MLAs goons.

Kejri the Savior. Hallelujah.

All AAP supporters, lets see his work and result of his so called great policies over period of 5 years. Then make huge claims.

BTW hope you know about Manoj Parrikar, CM of Goa. Go, check it. He is in BJP and an IIT graduate.

No debate from my side with AAP supporters.

Oh i completely agree , but i do believe the congress is any day better than these socialist fools.

You haven't answered the key question- he is attacking the mafias and no one else is. The mafias control much of supply. So why are you criticizing them showing the balls to do what needs to be done and what no one else has done.
