AAD 2016: Nigerian JF-17 deal close to finalisation

With this deal, for Pakistan, there are a lot of opportunities for growth especially within the NAF. Pakistan Aeronautical Complex will be counted upon to service and support the NAF’s JF-17s, potentially through the life of the aircraft’s service in Nigeria. It is likely that Nigeria will acquire additional JF-17s in the coming years.

There is nothing to stop the NAF from configuring, customizing and equipping its JF-17s according to its requirements and preferences. There is an opportunity for other vendors, particularly South Africa’s Denel Dynamics, which could provide the NAF with a range of precision-guided air-to-ground munitions. so win win deal for everybody
NAF has a requirement of 40 new fighters to replace its aging fleet. From what I hear, the 3 ordered are being fast tracked, so they arrive in Nigeria as soon as possible.

yep agreed ... since they wanna engaged them right away against BOKOHARAM and they know the results of JF-17 attained by PAF in their operation in FATA against TTP

Is the integration of Aselpod complete. As far as I have been told JFT ATG precision ammunition disposal is dependant on the presence of a POD and the Chinese example may not be fit for purpose.

Another Memorandum of Understanding in 2016... Nine years after the JF-17 Thunder first flew in Pakistan in March 2007.

No clue, might want to ask @Irfan Baloch @Windjammer or @Oscar
My own understanding is that it wont be before 2018 that we will have full integration. This is the time taken to integrate and test the hardware and related software and iron out any problems prior to full fleet wide usage. I dont know whether specific training comes into the equation as well although that would be a very small factor in the equation. As such either the Nigerians have accepted the Chinese POD as meeting their requirements or have agreed to have the ASELPOD integrated when it becomes available.

From what I can tell, the Nigerians are buying the JF-17s "as is", with (rumor has it) an option for future upgrades, so this might not even be a concern. Either that, or like you said, they've accepted the Chinese offering.

Probably between 30-35 million but Nigerian deal will be a comprehensive training, weapons, upgrades package

JF 17 is multi role so nigeria will use for everything

Jf 17 order should head towards 40-50 jets

IMO, (adding to that) most probably the case is, start with "as it is" and as soon as Turkish POD is available (there is interest), the same would be integrated and that period without Turkish POD would be consisting the delivery and integration of bird, training and get use to by Nigeria AF which wouldn't be wasted and then there will be Turkish POD.
