A Vision of a New Combined Arms Philosophy & Doctrine

Ah thanks for that. You are right. I instinctively understood this but where can I base myself? Perhaps I can break up the brigades and base them in nearby locations. Perhaps keep them at Hyderabad and a brigade in Mirpur Khas then...

Why dont you believe, that placing of V Corps in Karachi has lots of war gaming, thinking and deliberation by some of the best minds we had?

Between, looking through the Google Maps, I'm surprised how green the Pakistani side of Thar has become! How and when did that happen?!

Effects of rivers and canals flowing in the area.

Thats an inherent flaw then. The various AD brigades are there for some purpose. Once the enemy gets enough indicators (lot many types, easier to pick up) that your move is not for an exercise but for actual war, what do you think? An intelligent enemy will let you move, assemble and launch with impunity? What use is IAF (with long range aircraft) and other long range weapons for?

Principle - Strike Corps, or may it be any defensive formation, does not move without AD cover which has to be in place. Move has to be on multiple routes, multiple modes (rail, road) to make the job of Enemy's interdiction difficult, not easier by moving on rail only.

Okay so I guess air defense units are separate from the V Corps? I'll have to coordinate with the Air Defense Command and keep PAF in the loop... and disperse forces, moving either near sunrise or sunset...

I'm sure there is wisdom of moving them up and down the railway. By being at one end, they can be moved anywhere along the length and breadth of the country. There are also two artillery divisions lurking somewhere along this chain that is classified.

Some excellent conclusions which you have drawn for your future planning.

There is another way to use Corps basing during peacetime. It would be to base them periodically (for every 10 years) in a new area. That area would get structure and would become developed. But I digress from the topic.

and able to operate from roads ?

Good question

I think all he now needs is a couple of Billion US$ and he will be attacking India on his Al Khalid1, and spanking gangus into shape.
Will you give him Uncle Salaman's number, or should I :omghaha:

@Armchair Pls dont get offended, this thread is truly a gem, I wish I could give you a rating for it.

Who wouldnt like that? But then economy limits us as well. Kharian Cantonment is one of such purpose built cantonments, very well planned. But made by US in 50s. We havent been able to come up with such a thing till now.

At zero hour, from over 10 vectors, Pakistani forces will infiltrate into India. Each vector will have two battalions of Randers leading the way, followed by a single battalion of Pakistani regulars. Each battalion in single file and separated by 100 yards. This will be the initial force. Relatively lightly armed with some tanks, some mobile gun mortars, some APCs, and CAS on standby.

On the vectors which are least successful, and showing the... to be continued have to sleep.
