I've heard they were for evaluation only. It is possible these AT-6 missiles are still in Iran and could be studied if necessary.

I wonder why this system is better than laser guided Toophan-5 ?
Toophan-5 if launched from earth can go up to 3.5km and penetrate 900mm of armor while weight only 19.1kg while At-6 in basic form only can penetrate up to 600mm of armor and weight 31.5kg while it can flight up to 5km and I'm sure if you launch toophan from air it can go a lot more than that 3.5km.

Its like everything,it has its own strengths and weaknesses.The advantages of the at6 is that it is quite a bit faster and because of its radio guidance it requires specialised countermeasures to jam it,so this gives it some advantage over slower wire guided atgms like the tow and atgms like the early hellfire that used reflected laser light.Interestingly this system has no direct western equivalent in service as far as I know,probably the closest thing would be the top attack tow 2b rf variant.

That honestly wouldnt surprise at all as apart from the 2 photos theres nothing else about them being in service with irans forces.
Personally I think these would have made a great upgrade for the older cobra helos.
It would also be interesting to know when iran acquired these and whether they were the a,b or c model.
Actually I`ve just had a look at sipri and they seem to think that these were delivered in the early 2000s,possibly between 2000-2003,and could also include the at9 ataka as well,so I`d say we`re probably looking at c models which sounds great......however sipri also claims iran purchased 500[!!] of these,which honestly I have real doubts about just considering how little these have ever been seen,but then again how many at6 capable mi-171sh does iran actually have operational anyway?.
The whole thing is frankly a bit of a mystery at the moment I must say,it would be great if someone could clarify it for us.

Its actually a little unusual,its a radio guided [wireless saclos] system,you put your sight cross hairs onto the target and the guidance commands are sent by radio rather than thru wires like the wire guided tow or sagger,but you have to keep the sight on the target thru out the engagement
