Dear Fellow Pakistani,
This post of yours is factually so incorrect that i don't know where to start from. Though, i understand where are you coming from and your idea and emotions behind it but that's not how a country functions. Lemme address each point the way you have addressed.
Taxes have to be paid, period. But lemme tell you what tax paying countries have in common, a social security structure. Where the taxes are returned to the weak via a systematic system. Starting from health care, insurance of house, business, cars, life. Tax reduction for companies who reinvest their capital in their own buisness. Education is free and is of top notch and above all respect of it's citizens when they deal with them. Now out of all these (only have scratched the surface) what's being done for Pakistanis that they will feel incentivized to pay taxes?
Even after all these incentives in all of the countries of the world people try to evade taxes. That's how humans are, but there are systems in place to prevent that. Can you tell me which systems like that are there?
Now your second point, "you don't vote for progress", well people voted for progress overwhelmingly
(including me) and what did we get in return? Few arrests and corruption talks (press conferences)? Please spare us the talk and optics tell us that how many billion dollars have been retrieved by the government so far from "switzerland" "UAE" "London" "New York" "Paris" etc? Education was another agenda "progress" got the vote for, what have changed? please name one. In health sehat card has been introduced, but is that the health reforms that they got vote on? and i can keep going on.
Your third and most important point "We have a messed up political, social and financial system - yet you want a multibillion dollar war?"
Please tell me did the common Pakistanis did it? or the ones on the helms of power "for their own power" have destroyed all this? And this includes all state institutes, who have supported, abetted, encouraged certain factions of religious, political goons. Blame is not on a single one, is hamam main sara nanga hain. I won't be going in details, since not the time nor the topic under debate. These political and religious goons, who had state backing in return destroyed the institutes for their power.
Now lemme conclude, what pakistan is today is what "EVERY country in this world went through". But then they made systems and everything fell in place. They started putting their countries interests first and they became world leaders in economics, military, education, health, research and what not. So please spare us from "blaming all on people "who were kept jahil by design" by everyone in power, so that they don't ask questions.
Please start by asking questions and have some honor if you want things to be fixed. And let people debate, so that they learn from each other.
