Let me be honest. I have no special love for the ordinary Kashmiri. Nor do my eyes weep nor does my heart bleed for them.They are frankly inconsequential to the real war being fought between three states.

Also I do not need to worry about looking like other Indians. Or fitting in with them. This is our land. These are our people. We fit in just fine.

We don't go abroad and feel embarrassed when someone asks us where we are from. Nor do we say "Pakistan" to fit in and be accepted .... hope you got the reference.

I have a friend from Karachi. She recently finally managed to get her papers to go abroad. To her relief. She was talking to me the other day. Telling me how friendly everyone was thinking she was Indian. When she told them she was Pakistani, she could sense a feeling of withdrawal and reservation coming over the same folk who were friendly a minute ago. She too would love to give me gyan like you do. Now she tells me for the first time in her life she is realizing what it means to be to be a Pakistani in today's world.
