but i have seen in some pics,that the airbrake is in up position,but the aircraft is in mid air.(above sea actually)

Commercial aircraft use Thrust reversers

Note the separation in the engine cowling in the picture below ..... it is deployed during landing to slow the aircraft down.

once a british airways flight's engine caught fire on runway,and the pilot applied thrust reversing instead of brakes,causing the fire to spread catastrophically.

Well he should have used the built in fire extinguisher too in the engine .... every jet modern engine I know has one

British Airways Flight 5390-in this aircraft,the windscreen blew out in mid-air,the pilot was sucked out but was caught by his co-pilot.he stayed with his lower half outside the flying aircraft for sometime.
