A Delay In MMRCA Is Not a Blessings For Pakistan Air Force

You forgot the engine issue which india tried to block so that Thunders couldn't participate in their first ever 23rd march parade .
Zardari's 10% was the main hardle in Mirage 2000 other wise Kargil would be another story today .
In Zardari's tenure as President he looted further and during which PAF cut down its acquisitions .
How can you blame army ?

pak going for su-35, impossible.
if they can, they would have bought j-11 from china.cheaper than su-35.

Well its going to be a new and enhanced air craft for sure with that package. It also is going to be a huge project as well. I am assuming that this will be done for the entire MKI fleet? If so, then why are Indian members even concerned by the so called news on talks for a few squadrons of SU-35 to Pakistan?

I don't know that as Russia itself stated that there is no "Talk on SU-35" with Pakistan..

in fact we all know that "Pakistan can't afford SU-35" as it's Flyaway cost is some $65 mil and actual aircraft may costs well over $100 mil a piece(In fact,India itself bought late Su-30s at nearly $100 mil a piece)..There is a quite good reason why Pakistan choose JF-17 in the first place..They couldn't even buy J-10s which was their long term plan..

Russia has a very bad habit of leaking this kind of "Misinformation" to pressurize its customers..

Depends on the way you look at it ... the criticism would hold ground if the Rafale was not short listed ... as of now all the suppliers who would have been in battle and would have not sold to Pakistan are now out of the MMRCA deal .. Even the french were spreading rumors of them being willing to re-open the old deal for JFT upgrades to use as a pressure tactic on the Indians ...

What is beyond funny is the Indian game of getting in to deals and delaying them out so as to not let a mutual supplier supply to Pakistan ( a prime example being MMRCA and the cancellation of the JFT deal) -- Not in their wildest dreams did they saw the possibility of a similar game being used against them by the very same suppliers they used to pressurize .. as mentioned, the french floating rumors of them being ready for a JFT deal ... and now its Russia ... the country that was India's closest friend --- its biggest most powerful ally without question ... I've seen some of the Indian members here claiming that because India has its investment in such and such deal hence Russia won't pi$$ India off ... well you forget --- the power does not lie with you now ... which other country will provide you with the upgrades of the flankers we keep hearing about ?? -- which other country will provide you 5th generation FGFA that you have already invested in ... and if you pull out right now ... how much money do you loose ... is it even viable at this point to pull out from a signed deal worth billions of dollars and go for other options in the west ??? --- Even if you did, how would you build up confidence with your supplier if your going into a deal, freshly breaking off a signed deal on the premise of "they are selling to another customer we don't like" ---and the same can be observed in the MMRCA deal ... the french that were so obedient to this point, where they left a deal worth more then a billion dollars in hopes of getting the MMRCA are now acting as cocky as ever ... some days they feel HAL is not up to mark .. some days they say, lets reopen the deal for JFT ... so guess whose dictating the terms now .... the point being your caught in one of your own clever little traps ...

and whether this materializes or not (The SU-35 deal) --- the mere FACT that ministers from Russia are talking about sales of the best that Russia has to offer today ... to your rival Pakistan is in of it self front page news ... As for Pakistani friends reacting to the whining of Indian members ... please don't take it to heart ... Imagine what would be our reaction if we woke up tomorrow with a news that read " Talks with India for J-11D underway : Chinese minister"

PAF needs to upgrade on urgent basis with some sort of following combination
  1. 3-4 squadrons of Su-35
  2. 4-5 squadrons of J-11 D
  3. 2-3 squadrons of JH-7
These should be acquired as fast as possible and send our pilots to China and Russia to expedite training and integration of these systems. As far as the money is concerned, why the army and establishment force this corrupt govt to write a letter to the Swiss govt to access the money the corrupt Zardari has deposited. We keep hearing 200 Billions of Pak money is in Swiss banks...why don't they start the process of getting it back instead of begging loans from IMF and others. I had some dues/credit issue with my last employer and I took it to the court and got it because it was my money.

Obviously India played a political game with the whole MMRCA saga. How successful it was, that is up for debate.

BTW I'm not saying MMRCA was a political game, we played one with it. Subtle difference.

PAF does not need to do anything but to look for advanced radars and electronic suites (measures, counter measures, jamming pods etc.) from the West for JF-17 and that too only if the Chinese ones are not just at the top of the line. These JF-17's need to be ready to counter the MKIs and Super MKIs.......we shouldn't rely on the F-16's too much.

Analysts Skeptical Over Pakistan-Russia Su-35 Negotiations

Thank you for your post.

I am not aware of any news that the Russian government has stated that there is no talks on Su-35.
If there is then kindly share the link to the source if possible.

However, what I am aware of is that the Russian ambassador to India stating that the news was an overstatement from news service and that there was unnecessary overreaction in certain portions of the media. And that Russia will never do anything that will threaten India's security.

Which is exactly what he was supposed to do. His job. Even the US ambassador to Pakistan sugar quotes matters when talking to press over here even when there was harsh language used from someone in the administration in Washington.

The point is the Russian ambassador was absolutely right. A few Sqds of SU-35S (IF true) will not threaten India's security. India is to soon embark on its MKI Super Sukhoi MLU program and it also has its PAK FA FGFA program. Furthermore 36 Rafales may also be coming soon. So ... nothing to worry about.

Talks did take place. No one knows what was discussed and how far it has progressed. It was certainly not initiated from the Pakistani side. They had most probably gone their for the modalities of the Mi-35 gunships deal. This SU-35 news item is speculative at best. Time will tell how this pans out. These things are usually long protracted processes and we should patiently wait and see what happens.

As for what Pakistan can or cannot afford is immaterial in this scenario. Try to think of it as a Russia China combo. They have found common strategic goals and interests vis-à-vis the west and are forming their policies and strategies accordingly. In different geographical theatres they are identifying their countries of interest which they think will help them attain their goals. In this region they have identified Pakistan. The US decision to have permanent bases in Afghanistan, WOT, US attempts at inroads to central Asian States, CPEC and Gwadar deep water port all contributing factors to this. Furthermore almost 50% of China's fossil fuel imports comes from the gulf and Saudi Arabia. Its a very long way from there to South China Sea. CPEC will pay huge dividends by cutting short that route and use Gwadar port and Pakistan's inland route called the Economic Corridor. It will also negate any attempt to blockade China's imports from the gulf to the South China Sea within the Indian Ocean region. Hence a build up in PN is also underway with probably 8 subs and 6 surface vessels on order from China. I may be off on the numbers here but I am mentioning this to just to make my point clearer. And most importantly Gwadar gives China a naval foothold in this region. Russia is a partner in Chinese interests. China is helping Russian economy by signing a deal for importing around 270B$ worth of fuel and nearly 400B$ worth of gas. Russia also sees possibilities in Gwadar and CPEC and is disturbed by the US attempts in the region.

In all this Pakistan will be required to function as the provider of the inland route and port facilities and safeguarding the maritime interests of itself and those of China (and indirectly Russia as well).

For this PN is already being built up (as mentioned above) and the Air force too needs extra muscle. How that muscle is going to come only time will tell. Now China can sell the J-11D/J-16 blah blah to Pakistan. But the rub here is that since these are primarily based on reverse engineered design ... there is an agreement between China and Russia that China won't sell those to another country. But if an SU-class fighter is required to provide maritime air defence in all this what would Russia prefer that China sell her stuff to Pakistan or would Russia want to get something out of it as well. Maybe that is what is going on. I don't know what is happening but if such a deal were to take place it would only make sense and take place as a tripartite Russia-China-Pakistan deal for the Su-35 ... with China providing the loans.

I may be wrong in my assessment but this is how I see it.
